The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Bravo, Baylor! Did not think you had balls enough to do it.

Now Baylor football will go back to being an afterthought. Art turned a blind eye, sacrificed character for talent, but at least he didn't go all Dave Bliss on 'em.

I thought that Starr was going to be the scapegoat. I didn't think that they'd run Briles off.

The Pepper report was released and according to the ESPN spoke of the lack of institutional control and accountability in the football program.

I didn't think so either.  But I'm glad they're cleaning house.

That is a "findings of fact" paraphrasing written by the board of regents.  The full report has not yet been released, although they are saying it will be released today.

How do Briles and Starr lose their jobs but Ian McCaw just gets placed on probation?  Does accountability skip one level of the org chart?

I didn't think so either.  But I'm glad they're cleaning house.

Well, "cleaning house". AD stays. Starr stays, and actually moves up to chancellor.

He was already chancellor and president.  Now he's "just" chancellor.

Ok, that makes slightly more sense.

I thought Starr was out altogether.  I guess just they just cut his duties in half

It's beyond me how Starr doesn't get swept out with the rest of the trash. And the A.D.  Was Briles working in a vacuum?
Am wondering what is going through Drayton's mind now. His name is on the stadium.

Not only that, he's scheduled to speak to a conference on... wait for it... Title IX issues:

Baylor's own press release says “administrators directly discouraged some complainants from reporting or participating in student conduct processes and in one instance constituted retaliation against a complainant for reporting sexual assault.”  Either Starr knew what was going on and participated in the cover up, or he didn't know what was going on and was negligent in his duties.  I don't know how they can justify any type of leadership role for someone who presided over systematic institutional failure.

Eh.  Fuck him.

He has tenure.  Supposedly can't be fired.

As a professor. Not as president or chancellor.

As a professor. Not as president or chancellor.

There are processes to get rid of a tenured professor.  It is a long process but one I've seen happen.

Also, most presidential contracts will have the president go to a faculty position when they leave the office.

The bad thing about Baylor is you cannot submit an open record request for information since they are a private university.  A lot harder to get information.

AD resigned this afternoon. "After much prayer and reflection"... and buyout negotiations, no doubt.

you are correct. tenure is no protection against firing. exactly the same as firing someone during the term of a written contract.  I have done it more than once for my Seminary clients.
