State of the Astros MiL
« on: May 02, 2016, 09:19:27 pm »
The same maelstrom that has encompassed the ML club has worked it's way downward.  An organization that has had teams winning league championships the past couple of years does not have a single club currently playing at .500 or better. There are also few offensive stars. Pitching has been good. It looks like they could get bullpen help over the next couple of years and maybe a starter or two from below if they aren't packaged. Outside of Reed, Bregman and Moran I see no immediate offensive help unless Singleton  finds his stroke. Singleton has been better lately.

Trades have weakened the system while the best remaining older prospects are in the upper minors the best young prospects are playing in a league above their years.

And a month later there are two clubs above .500, the overall winning percentage is also above .500 and the Hooks have one of the best records in all of minor league ball.

A bit past the halfway point of the season and three of the four full season clubs have records above .500. Collectively the winning percentage of those clubs is .534. Add in the SS and DSL clubs and the overall winning percentage is .542.

I believe I deserve credit for this turn-around as being the panic-button pusher that started this thread.

Domestic affiliates finished with a combined .513 winning percentage, 11th-best among all organizations. That of course was down from the .565 winning percentage in 2015 which was 1st overall. Two playoff teams this year vs six last year.
