whoa, White in front of Rasmus?  Trying to add protection for White or baserunners for Rasmus?  Probably just due to Hamels being a lefty but still interesting

Rasmus has taken Hamels deep. Gattis twice has.

First two Astros hit by pitch...two on, nobody out...
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

T2:

Rasmus...looks at two strikes...0-2...lines a single into RCF (of course, the third out last inning was made on the bases w/RISP)
Gattis singles up the middle, Rasmus to 2B
Gomez bunt single, Rasmus to 3B, Gattis to 2B
Marwin...2-0...swings and misses at a ball 4 feet off the plate...2-1...3-1...flies out F9...Rasmus holds, but Gomez does not...Gomez in a pickle...Rasmus now has no choice...takes off for home and is  9-2-4-2, Gattis moves to 3B and Gomez to 2B
Castro with a slow roller to 3B out 5-3

Incredible....three hits, no runs and one really, really, really, really, really, really stupid baserunning  move.

Living up here I've been reading in the paper all week stories about how the Astros are really overrated and over-hyped.
But I did not realize the team was sub -.500 since the 18-7 start last year.

I think 110 losses is overstating it, but 90 losses seems frighteningly possible.

If they lose tonight, they'll be 5-10.  That's pace for 54-108.

Gomez strikes out on three pitches, spinning himself into the ground
Marwin taps one up the 1B line, Hamels fields it then spikes it into the ground, the ball rolls into RF, Marwin moves to 2B on the TE1...Banister out arguing...because he's a massive dickhead
Castro grounds out 3U on the firs pitch, Marwin to 3B
Altuve walks
Springer...full count...strikes out swinging, screwing himself into the ground.

Still 0 forever w/RISP...

2-0 Rangers

Which is why they need a veteran or two in 'house to say "that's not the way we do it around here".
I've wondered if, once his kids are all out of college, Biggio wouldn't be interested in a bench coaching gig.
You may ask yourself, "How do I work this?"

B5:

Andrus...full count...doubles to RCF...Springer does a nice job of cutting it off to keep it a double
Holaday...trying to bunt...can't get a strike...now full count...flies out F7
Deshields grounds out 5-3, Andrus has to hold at 2B
Mazara strikes out looking

2-0 through five

Correa...quickly 0-2...rolls one to 3B...5-3
White homers to LCF
Rasmus...0-2...works the count full...fouls off several pitches, works a walk.  Good at bat
Gattis reaches 9 feet outside and rolls a soft grounder for a 5-4-3 double play on the fist pitch

But...Astros cut the lead to 2-1

I'd forgotten how utterly impatient Gattis is, and will swing at anything.  I don't like being reminded.

B8:

Giles in...

Fielder ...0-2...hits a routine popup to 1B, White camped under it...and it clanks out of his glove...E3
Alberto in to pinch run for the Fat Kid
Beltre...0-2...doubles over Marwin's head, Alberto to 3B
Moreland...infield in...full count...walks
Desmond flies out F9, runners hold...notice how the runner at 1B didn't go when the runner at 3B didn't?
Odor...3-1...3-2...flies out to shallow LF, runners have to hold
Andrus...0-2...strikes out swinging at a pitch in the dirt, Castro steps on the plate to force Alberto

Tremendous job by Giles

To the 9th...Astros chasing a run

Gomez is completely overmatched by Big League pitching
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Did something happen to Gomez?
Everyone's talking, few of them know
The rest are pretending, they put on a show
And if there's a message I guess this is it

It's hard to imagine he once had decent full seasons.

When Luis Valbuena is your best pinch hitting option, you're in world of shit.

Valbuena turns the lineup over with a seeing eye single...tying run on base

C'mon Altuve! (I fully expect Valbuena to be picked off)

Still think the strikezone is horseshit.

T9:

Tolleson in...

Gomez grounds out 3-1
Tucker, pinch hitting for Marwin...pops out F6
Valbuena, pinch hitting for Castro...singles past the shift to LF
Marisnick in to pinch run for Valbuena
Altuve flies out F9

Game over

Astros gag on their own dicks...again.

Pitching was great tonight.  That wasn't the problem.  You're not going to win many games making so many mistakes, losing a whole inning being slapdicks on the bases, and going 1 for 12 w/RISP (the one being a bunt single) and 21 LOB.

Thanks for the PBP, HH.

Maybe I'm the problem.  Have they won when I was doing it?

Great pitching, but a complete shitshow of an offense.    The base running and mental errors are even worse.

Well, technically they used their best pinch-hitter earlier when Tucker came up. (Actually, they used their *best* pinch-hitter when they started Gonzalez at 3B.) But your point is still valid.
