Nice job by McHugh and Sipp to get out of the fourth with bases loaded and nobody out.

Borrowed him from minor league camp for the day.

No more scoring in B5. Astros narrow the score to 3-2.

Gametracker says the AStros have left 13 runners on base through 5 and the Nats 17 through 6.

Luhnow says both Reed and White could make the team especially if Gattis goes on the DL, so says a McTag tweet.

ETA: It was actually a Jim Bowden tweet retweeted by McT.  Bowden says Luhnow told him this directly.

Odd, I thought Gattis was already taking batting practice.

B8: Singleton whiffs in his first AB of the day as does AJ Reed.

(Uber pitching prospect Lucas Giolito on the mound for the Nats)

Odd, I though Gattis was already taking batting practice.

The other thing to take away from it is that Gattis is only one player.  That backhandedly means one of Reed and White has an excellent shot at making the team.

By my count that means either Duffy and Tucker don't make the team or they only carry 12 pitchers.  I'd really like to see Duffy on the team on opening day.

T9 on tap with Astros up 4-3. Jake Buchanan in.

Nats tie it up on a couple of singles (nothing hard hit off Buchanan) and an error.

Now there's a hard hit ball, 2-bagger down the RF line. Now runners on 2nd and 3rd with just one out. Score tied at 4.

And another, second double in the inning to make it 6-4 Nationals.

Gets the final 2 outs. To the bottom of the 9th down by a couple.

Tyler Heineman leads off B9 against journeyman lefty Aaron Laffey. Looks at strike three.

CF Teo Hernandez now up. Grounds to short for out #2.

Singleton the last chance. Grounds to the left side into the shift.

Final: 6-4 Nats.

For all intents and purposes, yes.  Who would possibly replace him?

I think there's the possibility they keep Tucker and send Marisnick down.

Tucker would have to significantly outhit him for that to happen, and he has (although the credit goes more to Marisnick than Tucker)...

Tucker: .286/.318/.476
Marisnick: .174/.208/.304

I would imagine it has more to do with what each brings to the table and what Luhnow and Hinch want to start the season.
