I have seen a couple of extended interviews of Colby Rasmus recently, and I was impressed. I think he has the potential to be a valuable veteran leader in the clubhouse.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

I like what he and Gomez bring to the table.

I questioned the signing last year because I didn't see the need, but I was dead wrong.  I love the guy and hope he gets to retire an Astro like he wants.

I would think that guys like Colby that have really struggled with how to handle themselves when making the bigs, and then later figure it out, make great veteran leaders.

Rasmus situation reminds me a bit of Everett.   Both were in big markets and just didn't seem to fit in.  Carl in NY and Colby in STL/Toronto

Both came to Houston and just seemed/appeared to be much more comfortable here.    Colby has gone from introvert to google wearing maniac who seems like he is having a blast playing baseball again.

Here is a good example that the Astros just tweeted out.

I remember when Everett first arrived, there was some rumbling, probably mostly in the Chron and/or on talk radio, about whether Everett was a good 'clubhouse guy', would he be disruptive to team chemistry, etc. Right away he got some kind of benediction from Bagwell, I can't remember if it was a quote or just some gesture, but after that you knew everything would be alright. They just left him alone and let him do his thing, which was play his ass off, all the time.

And he fucking hated the Cubs. I liked that.

That is about how I remember it, I enjoyed the shit out of watching Carl play here.   What a fun time that was to be an Astros fan.

Has Springer always been that ripped?  He looks like a legit NFL player in that video...which I guess is the point.

He is not at all like the guy that played for the Cardinals and Blue Jays. Same name, different guy though. I really like the one that plays for the Astros.

There is something about a person who genuinely enjoys makes the best out of their job, they make things more enjoyable for everyone.  Applies from fast kid to MLB player.   Colby genuinely looks like he loves playing for the Astros.  He didn't seem that way at his last two stops.

This is from a couple of weeks ago but I'm not sure it got posted here.

http://www.chron.com/sports/astros/article/Astros-Colby-Rasmus-helps-younger-teammates-get-6857971.php

Quote
“He’s been real generous for us,” Tucker said. “He’s kind of making a statement. He’s the leader of our outfield. He wants to just show all of the guys that we’re all in this together. He’s starting it off with a big statement getting all the outfielders suits.  He wants us to look good for the first road trip, and I’m pretty happy about it.”

Another more recent article says that Gomez also helped out.
