T5 as the Astros have managed just the 1 hit (Rasmus longball) and still up 1-0.

Brady Rodgers, a non-roster invitee for the 2nd year in a row, in to pitch for Houston. Starting pitcher depth at Fresno.

Toronto ties game up at 1 as a triple* to CF followed by an RBI single by Dominguez.

*in reality, ball was lost in the sun by Carlos Gomez says Ford.

Tied 1-1 going to B5.

After grounding out in his first AB to start the spring 0-7, Singleton homers to RF to put the Astros back up 2-1.

Heading to T6.

Over in Bradenton in the other split squad game against the Pirates, Astros just put up a 3-spot to take lead 3-2 in T4. Correa single, Tucker double followed by a Matt Duffy dinger (his 2nd of the spring).

Yay, 1B competition!

Duffy is playing 3B in that game with AJ Reed over at 1B.

Rodgers 1-2-3 inning in T6. Nearly as effective as Feldman and Wojo was earlier despite the 1 run allowed.

Marisnick with a two run shabby against the Piroots in the SS game, which we're now winning 5-2.

Neal Cotts with Astros debut in T7. Immediate 4-pitch walk to Justin Smoak. Retires the next 3 to end inning.

Joe Sclafani, who pinch hit for Rasmus in B6, in LF now and Andy Aplin in CF.

AJ Reed had the oppo run-scoring single in Bradenton and that squad now up 6-2 against the Pirates there. Tucker single and a Duffy walk preceded that.

In that game, Joe Musgrove in his 1st big league ST outing allowed a run on 3 hits over 2 IP with a couple of strikeouts.

Heading to B7 in Kissimmee, up 2-1 on Toronto.

Nothing doing for Astros there and on to the 8th.

Changes in T8: Jordan Jankowski on hill, Nolan Fontana at SS and Alfredo Gonzalez behind plate.

Jankowski presumably will again be working out of the Grizzlies bullpen to start season.

Allows a single in the inning but no plate damage and it remains 2-1. To the bottom of the 8th.

Gonzalez drawing raves with the throwing arm as he nails the baserunner on the SB attempt to end inning.

Fontana single in B8 followed by Valbuena double puts up good guys 3-1. Sclafani walk followed by an Aplin LD single loads bases. Singleton doubles off the wall in right CF to score a couple, now 5-1 with one out. Ashby says stiff breeze stifled what would otherwise have been a slam. Trent Woodward, over from minor league camp, singles to add 1 more run. Now 6-1. Gonzalez grounds out to score 5th run of frame, now 7-1.

After a final out, head to T9 up six runs.

Over in Bradenton, like Musgrove righty David Paulino with his big boy camp debut. Runs into immediate trouble, yielding (so far) a couple of runs on a single, walk, double. Currently 6-5 Astros there.

Added 1 more walk before being pulled. Lefty Edwar Cabrera (MLFA signed over winter and non-roster invitee) in game. Cabrera gives up a triple and a GO to plate 3 more runs. Astros now down 8-6 heading to T7.

Everybody in the 1B scrum getting in the act today! AJ Reed leads off 8th with single followed by Tyler White with the oppo longball. Score tied at 8.

With 1 out, Alex Bregman as a PH walks and then Teo Hernandez (again being borrowed from the micro camp) with the HR to CF. Now 10-8 stros.

No more plate action, on to B8 up by two.

The other side of the Jed Lowrie trade Brendan McCurry on hill for Astros in B8. Double, FB, FB and K. On to the 9th still up 10-8.

Fuck yeah, Matt Duffy with his 2nd homer of the day (and 3rd of the spring). 11-8 in the 9th. AJ Reed tries to keep up, following with a double. Colin Moran PHs for Tyler White and singles but Reed thrown out trying to score. Stassi flies out and Bregman looks at called 3rd strike to end inning.

Guido Knudson was on the mound for the Pirates. Saw 4 games with the Tigers last season in his only major league action.

Jandel Gustave brings the heat in B9. Whiffs all three hitters he faces and Astros beat the Pirates 11-8 to sweep the "doubleheader"!

Gustave's 2nd save of the spring. Now has 5 Ks in his 2 IP.

Impressed with Feldman's sharpness. Loved the way Wojciechowski utilized his fastball in & up.

Wasn't even able to follow Gamezone live (or semi-live) yesterday, yet still love to go back and read based on all the great info that's always supplied on top of the PBP.

Thanks.
