First ALDS game
« on: October 08, 2015, 03:11:40 am »
As far as I can tell, this is the first ALDS game ever. I was thinking about going somewhere for lunch tomorrow, maybe Frito pie. El Real was really good, or maybe Gabby's barbecue or Avalon Diner.

Keep me posted, I can probably join. I'm definitely eating Frito Pie at some point today.

I'm good for any place.  The earlier in the day, the better chance of recovery.

Seemed like El Real was getting pretty solid reviews. Would take me about 15 minutes to get there, but I am free to go anytime.

I'm good with that.  I'll leave now and try to get a couple of seats at the bar.  Anyone else?

Frito pie made and consumed at home.

I was underwhelmed by the fare at El Real when it first opened; particularly the staples of salsa, queso and margarita.  If you get those wrong...  The terrible parking situation has stopped me returning since.

Regardless, I am not free for lunch tomorrow, but may be able to catch up with anyone watching the game out somewhere.

(Yes, this means I am cratering on my boycott of all things MLB).

I know that, but today's in an evening game and Neil was talking about meeting up for lunch tomorrow, when the game is at 2:45pm...

Oh, I assumed from the 3am post time he was just closing out last night's bender.

Hadn't noticed the time stamp.  Now I'm confused as to what day he means.

El Real tweeted out they will be showing the Astros game tomorrow (FRIDAY) on their 22 foot big screen.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

No worries.  Apologising for and/or correcting statements made at 3am is pretty much universal.

The Frito pie at El Real was once again excellent.  WakePhil did his duty.

Is it a bad sign that around 4:00 each day my body starts to NEED Fritos doused in slop?

So is Frito pie required tomorrow, or is it one per series?

I was afraid of that.

My wife hasn't asked me yet, but she's been glaring at me recently, almost wondering out loud (I can see her thought bubble) "Ahum... are you going to shave that stupid goatee you're trying to grow?" I saw a picture of me with a goatee circa 2005, so I remembered Bagwell and my tribute back then to him, hoping it would be the year he goes to the world series. My own personal sacrifice to the BBGs. I started letting the damn thing grow out again about two weeks ago and hope to have the pharaoh look before it is all over.

RIght now, I look like the guy who plays guitar for Los Lobos (only with more grey).

I was hoping it was one per series.  Noe says no.

And this is one place where I absolutely can't trust my own gut instinct.

My belly is gonna kill my brain. I'm not looking forward to Sonic style today. Need to look for other Frito Pie options in New Braunfels.

I opened the fridge this morning to get my creamer and there staring at me was the tupperware  of left over chili. "See you at lunch time buddy" I heard it say to me. I ran to the bathroom right then and there.

Did one of y'all post this on the Houston sub-Reddit yesterday, supposedly from Bubba's Burger Shack?  http://i.imgur.com/eqBRtS8.jpg

Thought it was a good omen, if nothing else.

Phoenix Saloon downtown. They serve it in the bag as hot as you like it and season it with their homemade chili powder. I usually max out at the double shot.

Pat's Place has pretty good frito pie also.  They are on Union Street close to Schlitterban.
