Nothing else to say.  He was 90.
Don't think twice, it's alright.

It's over. One of the sports all time greats on so many levels. RIP
Everyone's talking, few of them know
The rest are pretending, they put on a show
And if there's a message I guess this is it
Truth isn't easy, the easy part's shit

He was unique... now we will if his theory abut going to other people's funerals or they won't come to yours is right.

I was a Brooklyn fan as a kid, and I would rather see Mantle at the plate in the clutch than Berra. With apologies to Neil, Berra was the best bad ball hitter in my lifetime.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

And a man that always seemed to be having fun in life.  Rest in Peace.

For me, the two most enduring images of Yogi come from the 1955 World Series. - Robinson stealing home in Game1 and Amoros  coming out of nowhere to snag his line drive slicing down the left field line in Game 7.
E come vivo? Vivo.

I learned today that he was also Lawrence Berra, USN - decorated veteran of D-Day.

What a life.

I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

I read a biography of Berra a few years ago, and always read everything I can find on Berra.  Oddly, it's not the baseball stuff that sticks, and not even the quotes.  He was an authentically nice guy, and an authentically good guy.  Coach, I'm glad I never saw him play, because I'd have ended up a Yankees fan.
