Tinkies @ Astros, September 4
« on: September 04, 2015, 07:18:47 pm »
Conger once again exhibits his one skill: tagging out a runner on a close play at the plate. Good throw by Gomez, too.

McHugh gets out of the top of the 1st with no runs scored.
I remember all the good times me 'n Miller enjoyed
Up and down the M1 in some luminous yo-yo toy
But the future has to change - and to change I've got to destroy
Oh look out Lennon here I come - land ahoy-hoy-hoy

His one skill?
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

It's cool to hate Conger, didn't you know? Even cooler than hating Gomez.

Pitch framing.

I'm obviously having trouble framing my jokes.

It's odd too.  Reuben usually has a sense of humor.

You must be confusing me with that other Reuben.

At any rate, I do think that Conger has gotten rather unfairly shat on this year by a lot of folks. Many disliked the Astros giving up Tropeano (who has a 5.51 ERA with the Angles this year, 4.81 in AAA) and Perez (who has hit .220/.267/.309 for Anaheim). Yeah, Conger has sucked beyond belief at throwing out runners. I still wonder if he's injured, because he had a nearly-average 24% CS rate before this year. He's also sucked at hitting LHP. But he's destroyed RHP (.282/.365/.600) and seems to be well-liked by his teammates and respected by his pitchers. I'm glad he's an Astro.
