"I don't care what Joe Girardi says," Gomez told ESPN Deportes' Marly Rivera.

Gomez said he understood the Yankees' frustration but felt he wasn't trying to show them up.

"If they feel frustrated, that's not my problem," Gomez told Rivera. "This is part of the game, part of the nature of competition, and those who don't know how to compete, can just go home and cry."

Gomez has some fire.

No one would really give a shit except it was the "Yankees."  If this had been against the Twins, no one would be talking about it.

I challenge anyone to watch a non-Astros game tonight and record the number of disgusted bat tosses they see. If the number is under 5, I'll eat my hat I wear at the dinner table.

This is such a giant pile of nothing, it's kind of embarrassing.

Gomez didn't show anyone up last night.  He's frustrated with his performance since the trade and he felt he once again missed a hittable pitch.  His bat flip was him displaying frustration at himself.

Also, why is it not ok for Gomez to display emotion on the field, but it's ok for players in the opposing dugout to shout at an opponent and escalate the situation because they got their panties in a wad?

Athletes are human beings; some are stoic with their emotions; some, like Gomez, wear them on their sleeve and feed off of them, good and bad.  Neither group is really wrong for the way they act, in most cases.  And last night was not crossing the line.

Time you enjoy wasting, was not wasted.

It should come as no surprise that a baseball team with such progressive 21st century traditions as a strict mustache or no facial hair policy would have problems with those that display emotion.

Oh yes he did.  But not with that flip of the bat.

FTR, I watched the game last night - except that I missed the top of the 1st...

Amen. I had more respect for Girardi than that. I understand that he was standing up for his guys, but this thing was instigated by Brian McCann's catcalls from the dugout. I can't wait until McCann is catching today and Gomez comes up to the dish.

What did the bench/McCall holler at him? He was on his way to the dugout.

Girardi said it was something to the effect of "act like a professional".  I'm sure it was more colorful in person.

It's like the Yankees did not actually watch any at bat Paul O'Neill took from 1993-2001

Those two have plenty of history.  I love this clip.

And I'm sure McCann is till pissed about Gomez rolling the ball to the catcher in time gunning him at the plate on Monday.

That was a pretty good throw.  It skipped a few times, but it was getting there in a hurry.  And more importantly, it wasn't 30 feet offline.

The best part of that play was Hank Conger pointing out to Gomez after the play, like it was some great throw.

Rasmus just argued balls and strikes after the Astros took a 5-0 lead.  Girardi just released a statement about that unwritten rules violation and how Rasmus is not playing the game the right way.

How McCann didn't get tossed from that game is a mystery for the ages. What a piece of shit.

Did Chris Chambliss?

Nope.  But Jeff Kent did, because he, the Astros and their fans aren't retarded.

That whole Braves team was yelling at him all the way around the bases.   And McCann was there at home plate to just be a real dick about it.     I agree though, why McCann didn't get tossed is a real mystery.   He started it all.
