Hinch has a LH batter in the #9 spot? Doesn't he realize the Giants have a left-handed pitcher going???

When you are going bad your best two pitchers draw Sonny Gray and Madison Bumgarner.

Gotta beat the best to be the best.  And if you can beat Madison, that should give them a ton of momentum and people will stop cutting their wrists after a loss.

Ugh. Awful strikeouts by Correa and Gattis, and Altuve thrown out trying to steal 3rd.

Does he have some amazing record against Bumgarner? Otherwise I can't see risking his defense out there on a night where you're going to need to limit the other team's opportunities as much as possible.

Every game, Ashby and Blum will comment on what a good swing so and so had. Sometimes it's after a foul, usually after a whiff, but rarely after squaring one up. I never stop learning about baseball.

Were Altuve and Gomez' ABs both 1-pitch affairs? Have they never heard of taking a pitch or two to give your pitcher, who just batted, a breather?

No, his reaction after the play just reinforced what I don't like about him.  He made a nice catch though

Fair enough... I don't really get the disdain for his reaction there (and similar) though - it's not like he's doing it (there or elsewhere) to show folks up - just showing a little fire and that's a good thing IMO...

Were Altuve and Gomez' ABs both 1-pitch affairs? Have they never heard of taking a pitch or two to give your pitcher, who just batted, a breather?

Yep, both swung and popped up the first pitch

Congratulations on Jackson!

Thanks, he's awesome!!!
And thanks to "swaddling," I've been able to discreetly bind that right arm without fear of retribution from CPS (or more importantly, the wife...)...

Fair enough... I don't really get the disdain for his reaction there (and similar) though - it's not like he's doing it (there or elsewhere) to show folks up - just showing a little fire and that's a good thing IMO...

I don't see the showboating as "fire", I see it as "it's all about me".  Just rubs me the wrong way.

Sad but true (I ain't given up hope yet thoigh...).

Didn't see that as showboating... From my vantage, he just looked like a guy who ran into a wall and made a great catch and showed a little fire - didn't see any showboating there...

On another note, another E from Kazmir... I think we can agree that that sucks ass...

The nonchalant infield play is starting to piss me off.

3-0 now on two balls that should have been outs.

I'm not sure the results would have been any better had Conger fielded those two dribblers.

B6:

Pence grounds out 6-3
Belt homers to LF
Crawford grounds out 6-3
Maxwell with a chopper in front of the plate...Kazmir picks up the ball...counts the seams, checks the signature...finally throws to 1B and doesn't get him
Adrianza with a chopper in front of the plate...Kazmir picks up the ball and throws it into RF.  Maxwell comes around to score, Adrianza to 3B

That's it for Kazmir...Fields in

Bumgarner strikes out swinging

But the Giants pick up two runs, one earned...lead 3-0

What was "nonchalant" about that 2nd play? Kazmir got to it fairly quickly and then made a rushed, piss-poor throw when he should've eaten it, no? Maybe I'm wrong, I'll have to see another replay.

I'm quite proud of him for running hard the whole way.  I really didn't think this was going to be dropped.  Way to go Gattis, runner on third with one out, let's see how they strand him.

B7:

Ashby babbling about Qualls while Fields still on the hill...

Blanco with a leadoff walk, after Gattis trips on the bullpen mound chasing a foul pop
Blanco easily steals 2B as Conger's throw travels about 70 feet, just barely clears the mound
Duffy strikes out swinging
Posey intentionally walked
Pence flies out to shallow RF

That's all for Fields...PER-ez in

Belt strikes out looking...finally got that guy

Giants leave two, but lead 3-1
