Where is everybody? Did MLB round everybody up and send them to the gulag?
I remember all the good times me 'n Miller enjoyed

Astros pick up where they left off last night, swinging at shit in the top of the 1st.

In the bottom of the 1st they put DeShields on in some apparently hideous way that I didn't see, followed by Conger throwing a ball into right field on a sacrifice bunt, sending DeShields to third. Then a sac fly, a walk to Beltre, and then another single with a pretty poor throw by Gomez to the vicinity of the plate. What a fucking mess.

2 errors before an out.  And now the Rangers announcers are making fun of Gomez.

With good reason. Another bloop single to CF, another lousy throw toward the plate when they really could have had a pretty slow Beltre at the plate.

Maybe it is just me, but the Ranger announcers are weak.
It's my estimation that every man ever got a statue made of 'em was one kinda sombitch or another.

At this rate, I'm not optimistic about their chances of finishing above .500.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

This is not what I was hoping for.  1st inning, bunt, bunt, pop up, soft liner, soft liner, pop up, K.  That leads to 3 runs.  UGH.

Team looks dead, like they did the 2 series before the break.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

This team is going to give up extra runs with Hank Conger behind the plate.  He's as bad as I've ever seen at this level.  He has to drive in at least a run per game to break even, sometimes more.

Starting pitching struggling, bullpen regressing back to what is probably a more realistic level of performance, young guys wearing down in their first real exposure to a full-length major-league season with the added stress of a pennant race. I can see the last six or seven weeks turning kind of ugly. I'm not saying it will happen, but I won't be completely surprised if it does happen.

I think Altuve has either popped up or K'd in 9/10s at bat recently.  He needs a day off.

But he can frame pitches....allegedly.

They are sucking at the moment, but the probability of a collapse seems kind of low. They still have a good team.

Yeah, 2 very good plays to strand Lowrie at 2nd. Still 4-1 gurs.

I just wish the slow guys would hit the ball right at the fielders and the fast guys would hit it in the hole. Doing the opposite isn't working out real well.

The Rangers D has made some plays as well.  Easily could have been men on 2nd and 3rd w/ one out and two in if not for the plays made at SS and RF.

It's only a matter of time until somebody builds an app that uses GPS, or maybe a bluetooth mesh of some sort, to do all of the wave synchronization. Then all the lazy fucks will have to do is hold the phone up. And with the proper selfie stick they won't even have to do that.

I don't know a Florida Georgia Line song, or even who they are...but any band named after a Lynyrd Skynyrd song has to have something going for it.

Conger walks to force in a run. 4-3. Bases still juiced for Valbuena.

Still just 1 out.

Valbuena strikes out, swinging from the heels at a pitch in his face.

Give Valbuena credit: pitch was 9 inches inside and up at his neck and he still tried to hit it 450 feet.

Marisnick pops out to shallow CF.

Picked up a pair, but again the failure to put balls in play with a runner at 3B means missed opportunity to tie the game.

I'd rather see Singleton getting Valbuena ABs. or let Jed and Marwin play 90% of the time at 1st/3rd and let valbuena come in when ha need a homer.

Random fact:

Jake Marisnick had 22 hits in April. In June, July and August combined he's had 17.

Well, and it only gets harder from here. Four in Oakland, and two in SF then back home to face the Tigers and Rays before back on the road to NY and Minn. Oh, and four more up in Arlington.

They're gonna need a major kick in the ass to stay above .500.

Oh I know what they say about the astros. I live in enemy country. I argued til I was blue in the face that the rockets were twice the team the mavs were. The team backed that up. Now I nearly get in fights leaving the game tonight because ranger fans want to pat me on the back and say things like "thanks for keeping first place warm" I hope they crash and burn the rest of the season but it seems that won't happen of for no other reason than to piss me off.
