They obviously want him off the 40-man.  I'd expect another move coming then.

I'm sure this has nothing to do with it, but Straily was not very impressive last night even though he kept the Astros in the game. Sounds odd I'm sure, but his fastball was horrible. He kept getting hitters out with a tailing down and away changeup. Once the Rangers spat on that pitch, he had no other recourse than to try and locate his fastball high in the zone to get them to fly out. His fastball was batting practice variety and once they measured it, they hammered it. That wasn't the type of arsenal you'd expect from a major league starter.

I imagine that had something to do with it.  If he was mowing em down, he still be on the 40 man.

Why add either of those guys unless you're going to call them up?  Does that mean an Appel sighting in Houston either now or Sept 1st?

I deleted the post because they still could move Deduno to the 60 day and get a spot. My guess it has solely to do with them not considering Straily to have any value going forward.  They'll need the spot come September but not now

Another question would be why Wojo?  He has not pitched well as of late.  Or perhaps he is in the Straily path.  Perform now or the boot.
