Anyone been?  Worthwhile trip?  Is there somewhere better for a short trip to Maine?

Thanks!

I went to Bar Harbor about 20 years ago and I remember it being pretty cool.

Acadia National Park is very worthwhile. Adjacent Bar Harbor is cool but be sure to be out of the town when there is a cruise ship visit.

I thought Acadia NP was very beautiful. Bar Harbor is nice but very touristy because it is near the park.  Didn't really stop in Portland. Liked Kennebunkport but it is a long way from Acadia and Portland. If you get to Acadia go up Cadillac Mountain and watch the sun come up. Worthwhile. I would check out Camden also.

Portland is a cool little town.  Good local beer scene and minor league baseball.  There's a handful a quite good restaurants (Hugo's, Fore Street, Five Fifty-Five).

Acadia National Park is gorgeous and Bar Harbor is a fine touristy little sea town.

As long as you can see the coast, you'll be alright in Maine.  Don't venture too far inland as it gets awfully weird awfully quick.

Thanks for all the tips.

Anyone driven the coast roads up there?  It's 3 hours from Portland to the National Forest which, by Texas standards, is a trip to the shops.

I did a NE driving trip last year - started in Camden, ME, went down to Portsmouth NH and then to CT.
Maine's awesome.  Portsmouth is a great drinking town.
Don't think twice, it's alright.

Second the earlier Bar Harbor and Acadia recommendations, but be forewarned, there is no "short trip" in Maine.  Those roads are long and windy, albeit beautiful.  That old "you can't get there from here" thing is pretty accurate.

That's a straight line if ever I saw one.

Did you Camden? We just passed through it and it seemed pretty cool to me.

We stayed just outside of town at a BB in Lincolnville.  Made it in to town one night and had a fun time.  Very laid back.

Spent a week there for work once.  Nice town. Good food.  Pictures don't do lighthouses justice.  They need to be seen in person to appreciate their importance and solitude as well as their beauty.
Always ready to go to a game.
