I like it also.  I get that Crane can do what he wants, but I wish he'd just say he wants to remove it for economic benefit, and stop with the lame "worried about injuries" crap.  I may have forgotten, but I don't remember any injuries.  People also run into walls and get injured.

Awful...anything for a buck I guess.  The hill was one of the best things about this stadium.  Hate this decision.

Richie Sexon? Who else?

Build a team around pitching and defense up the middle and then bring in center field while doing away with a home field advantage. OutSTANding. But perfectly predictable.

I liked the hill and flagpoles.  They're silly, and I think that's fine.

Moving center field in 30 feet?  I'm really not a fan of that.

And for the "anything for a buck" crowd, how does this make more money?  The ballpark's capacity will remain the same.

The greatest triple the park has ever seen.  I can't believe there's not readily available video of it on the internet.

I read they were building more stuff to do behind CF. They have something like that at Nationals field where people can hang out at bar-like tables.

If the hill is a remotely good idea, why does no other ballpark in the world have one?

Because it would be a copy.  The green monster at Fenway isn't a bad idea because no one else did it.

This is annoying.

Take the hill, if you must. Take the flag pole. But leave the extra-deep CF; that helps balance out the Crawford boxes and gives the playing field its character.

I'm in total agreement BUWebGuy . I don't care for the hill much, but moving in the fences makes it a bandbox. I remember someone (Oswalt maybe?)  said that MMP is a pitcher's park  disguised as a hitter's park.  Move in the fences and it's just a hitter's park.

As I recall, when it was originally announced every poster on this board hated the idea, and thought the flagpole particularly stupid.  I've like the deep center field, and I've liked the hill, but I'm not sure that 15 years ago I thought that way.

That is what I remember too. I've always been ambivalent about it. It just doesn't come into play enough to be anything more than a novelty. I think I heard Reid Ryan say today that they project moving in this fence would lead to probably two more HRs a season. What it will do I believe is cut down on triples which is perhaps the most exciting play in baseball.

More players have been injured by walls than by the hill.

That said, I don't care if they get rid of the hills, I don't care if they bring the fences in some.  30 feet sounds like too much though.

Not to mention tarps and bullpens are far more dangerous.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Good point on leaving a deep CF.  Of course removing the hill doesn't describe what goes in to replace it.  I like the idea of a HOF.  We'll see about restaurants, seating, etc.  Hard to tell much from initial image.

Take the hill, if you must. Take the flag pole. But leave the extra-deep CF; that helps balance out the Crawford boxes and gives the playing field its character.

Or take out the Crawford Boxes and put those seats where the hill used to be.  So the field is shorter in CF but longer to LCF.
Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.
