If the Astros believe Singleton has figured something out and still has a good chance to be a good #3-5 hitter, I hope they keep him. The likely core position players, going forward, are:

Correa
Springer
Marisnick
who are all righty batters. In addition, either Gattis or Carter are likely to be the DH going forward, giving you a 5th RHB. Tucker, Castro or Conger, Valbuena and Lowrie are lefty or switch-hitters, but that's it - and they all carry question marks either with their bat or their health.
Yes, there's a number of promising LH hitters on the farm - Reed, Phillips, Fisher, Vazquez - but realistically, Singleton probably represents the best shot of any LH hitter in the organization right now at becoming a potent middle-of-the-order bat, and certainly the best shot at being that as soon as 2015 or '16.
