Gattis isn't seeing the ball at all.

It will exactly equal the combined Ks of Gattis and Carter.

McHugh is having control issues and I think he likes to put some of his pitches in the dirt. Castro isn't the best at that, but tough to deal with.

Not every town is full of a bunch of provincial necks who are either too happy to get fucked over or are too stupid to know that's what's happening. Kansas City is another such place, apparently. Did you see the shit they served up on dollar dog night? That garbage was far more vile than the normal prison food they typically serve.

Nice wins the last couple of days.  Maybe staying up late is worth it after all.

Collin McHugh has won 10 consecutive decisions, which is the longest streak by Astros pitcher since Wade Miller had 12 in a row in 2002.

No Fredia in the GZ = TOTALLY worth it.

Ackley - BB on 4 pitches
Jackson - (Ackley steals 2nd on WP) Sac Fly to RF, Ackley moves to 3B
Cano - Grounds out to 3B, Ackley scores
Cruz - Flies out to RCF

End of the 1st. Mariners 1-0.

Just a couple of post-game points of order for those scoring at home:

1. A runner advances either on a steal or a wild pitch/passed ball, but not both. If he was running on the pitch, he gets credit for a stolen base and the pitcher is not charged with a wild pitch. If the runner wasn't moving on the pitch, no stolen base and pitcher is charged with a wild pitch or the catcher charged with a passed ball.

2. A batter only gets credit for a sacrifice fly if it scores a run. A runner simply advancing to 2b or 3b is not a sac, it's simply a fly out, and the batter is charged an at bat.

Keep up the good GZ work!
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

For some reason I thought a batter was always charged with an at bat for a sac fly, but not a sac bunt.

ETA:  A batter is not charged with an at bat for a sac fly, but is charged with a plate appearance for purposes of calculating OBP.  That makes perfect sense.

I somehow knew those comments weren't quite right, but just decided to power through.

As a side note, it seems all my Apple hardware (a mini-mac and iPad 2) that I bought 3 or 4 years ago is now incredibly slow. Is this true or have my expectations adjusted?

Looking at the replay of Springer's walk/K, it would have helped if Springer also knew that was ball four.  He reacted like he didn't even know.

I couldn't understand why no one on the bench seemed to know or why there weren't people yelling about it.
