T1:

Altuve leads off with a single.
Springer strikes out swinging.
Lowrie flies out F7, Altuve doubled off a 1B in a display of hideous baserunning.

Inning over.

No score.

I would've called you a liar a week ago if you'd said in the 6th game of the season Lowrie would be hitting 3rd and Valbuena cleanup.

I'm glad the Rangers are willing to throw DeShield into the fire and see what they got. And he just makes a nice catch in the field and then doubles off Altuve who is late getting back to first.

B1:

Martin grounds out 5-3 on a nice play by Valbueno
Andrus grounds out 3U
Beltre singles up the middle
Fielder grounds into 6-5 FC, Beltre out at 2B (shift was on) to end the inning.

Still no score.

Well, they have to do something with him.  They can't send him down.

T2:

Valbuena homers to RF!  Astros take the lead.
Gattis strikes out swinging
Castro grounds out 3U
Rasmus...with his fly open...maybe a semi...triples on the RF lin !(chalk flying)
Marwin doubles over the RFer's head.  Smolinski didn't get much of a jump on that.  Rasmus scores.
Marisnick homers to LF...Marwin scores, Marisnick scores!
Altuve flies out F8, inning over.  But the Astros pick up four runs on four extra base hits.

Astros 4  Rangers 0

B4:

Andrus grounds one through the 3B/SS hole for a leadoff single
Beltre pops to shallow CF, F8
Fielder beats the shift with a chopper to SS, which would otherwise be an easy double play, but no one is there.  Because of the shift, no one is covering 3B either, and Andrus cruises in to the bag.  Runners at the corner, 1 out.
Smolinski walks to load the bases
Rosales grounds into 4U-3 double play to end threat.

Rangers get two hits, leave two...heading to the 5th...Astros still up 4-0.

Smolinksi lines out to RF
Rosales walks, sprints down to 1B
Odor strike out swinging
Corporan doubles to LF, Rosales to 3B.  Nice job by Rasmus to get that ball back in quickly.

Strom out to talk about it.
Martin with a seeing eye single up the middle...Rosales scores, Corporan scores...runners at the corner.
Andrus grounds out 1-3 to end the inning.  But the Rangers pick up a pair.

Heading to the 8th

Fuck you, Ashby. Why don't you just say out loud that you're trying to jinx Kuechel?

Jesus.

He's also going to cause Marisnick to get injured.

Ashby just asked where George Springer's smile has been lately.

Uh, Ash. He's hitting like shit and probably pressing a little bit. Where do you think it is, you smug, condescending fuck.

You know what is nice about this line-up?
2BJose Altuve (R)
RFGeorge Springer (R)
SSJed Lowrie (S)
3BLuis Valbuena (L)
DHEvan Gattis (R)
CJason Castro (L)
LFColby Rasmus (L)
1BMarwin Gonzalez (S)
CFJake Marisnick (R)

None of the names can really be shortened and a 'y' added to it.

T8:

Marisnick lines a single to LCF
Altuve flies out to RF.  He seems to be swinging at everything.
Springer singles to CF, Marisnick to 2B.  Sure wish Altuve could have moved Marisnick up.
That's it for Lewis.  Mendez in for the Rangers
On first pitch...double steal...Marisnick swipes 3B and Springer into 2B.
Lowrie draws an intentional walk to load the bases with one out
Valbuena grounds into easy 4-6-3 double play.  Inning over.

I am not very impressed with Valbuena at the plate.

That was a shitty at bat with the bases juiced and one out.

He hit the living fuck out of the HR in his first at bat, but that seems to be an anomaly.

At any rate, the bullpen completely fucking meltsdown, as the Rangers get two runs without having to put a ball in play on two hit batters and a fuckload of walks.

We're now tied, and after a crips 7 1/2 innings in about 1 hour and 20 minutes, the last innings has taken over an hour.

T9:

Gattis finally hits one well, but it's right at the LF for an F7
Castro singles to LF
Rasmus strikes out swinging
Marwin pops up to SS to end the inning

Bottom of the 9th, and after all that, the still need at least 6 more outs.

FUCK!!!!

Hey ump, either 3 inches off the plate is a strike or it isn't. You don't get to just flip a coin each time.

This is the problem with extra innings on the road.  If you don't score, you have to play at least *two* more innings.

But why do I get the feeling that it doesn't matter if they played an extra two innings or two hundred, the Astros simply incapable of scoring another run?

On a play you don't see very often. Foul tip and Corp had a shot to still make the throw, but couldn't get the ball out of his hand.

Yeah, those are tough.  The ball is in your glove, but maybe not where it would be if you caught it cleanly.  Make the glove to hand transfer difficult, and it's hard to get a grip on the ball sometimes.

I had the exact same thought. Why would you do that?

Thank you God, for helping me take that belt-high fastball down the center of the plate.

Too bad we didn't use these guys that are mowing down the Rangers now when we were protecting a lead.

The highlight of extra innings is going to be the anchor back at the sports desk not knowing what New Orleans NBA mascot is, I suspect.

The way the Rockets have been stepping on their dicks lately, I kind of hope this game goes 47 innings.

I just got up from a much needed two-hour nap.  This game is still going on.

Sure looks like it hit him.

Glad to see I'm not alone. Funny that when I moved here in 04 this wasn't really even ranger country. Was a mix of Astros and rangers ha
