« on: April 02, 2015, 11:36:05 am »
Astros come in at $71MM, 29th and just ahead of the Marlins at $68.5MM.

Median payroll is $114MM. Dodgers payroll leads MLB and is 4 times that of the Astros and Marlins at $273MM. Yankees and Red Sox are 2nd and 3rd respectively at $219MM and $187.5MM.

Among division rivals, Angels are at $151MM (7th overall), Mariners at $120MM (12th), and the A's at $86MM (27th). The Rangers are spending $142MM (8th overall) for what's likely to be a last place team.

...which is artificially low by about $8.5 MM if the pro-rated portion of the Yu Darvish fee is factored in.

I've been b!tching about payroll for years, but no problem this year.  Crane said they would add to it incrementally, going up 30 million, means for now, he was serious.

They should bump it up another 30-40 over the next couple seasons.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.
