DVR Alert
« on: February 05, 2015, 05:30:20 pm »
Tyler Brunnemann and Chan Moon have been playing winter ball in the Land Down Under. Their Adelaide Bite club finished the regular season with the best record in the Australian Baseball League at 32-16. Over the next three days, they'll face runner-up Perth Heat in the ABL Championship Series. Since the league was revived (with the help of MLB) in 2010, that Heat club has dominated taking 4 of 5 ABL championships. The best 2 of 3 championship series is being televised on the MLB Network with games starting at 2:30 AM (CT) on Fri, Sat and (if necessary) Sun.

Moon finished 2nd in the league in the regular season with 20 SBs. Brunnemann tied for the league lead in saves with 8 and had a 1.08 WHIP and 3.12 ERA on the season.

Brunnemann induces game-ending GIDP to get the save as the Bite take game #1 3-2. Moon had an Ofer.

Does Brunnemann still have a very violent delivery.  When he pitched in Greeneville, he would almost end up with his glove hand on the ground as he spun toward 1st.
Always ready to go to a game.

Brunnemann takes the loss allowing a single in 2/3 of an inning as the following reliever allows the inherited runner to score. Forces game 3 tomorrow.

Moon shined with an RBI double, 2 walks and a swipe.

Moon had 2 hits and a walk (but also fell asleep and got picked off 1B with his team down by 5 runs) and Brunnemann threw a scoreless 8th but the Bite fell to the Heat 12-5 as Perth claims the ABL championship.

Dark side of the Moon?  The pick off seemed to be a bit of a momentum killer for Adelaide.  Still, good guys win easily.  I think the Heat were robbed in the series opener anyway, but I may be a bit biased...
