Cardinals' Oscar Taveras

In case anyone isn't reading the GZ...Cardinal outfielder Oscar Taveras killed in a car accident in the Dominican Republic.  He was 22.

The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Bummer. The Cardinal organization has had their share of tragedies.
Everyone's talking, few of them know
The rest are pretending, they put on a show
And if there's a message I guess this is it
Truth isn't easy, the easy part's shit

Unga bungaed by the BBGs.

I was looking forward to watching him...even as a Card.  Really terrible.

Devastating news.

Out of curiosity, why is this any more devastating than the hundreds of other people who died on that day?  I understand why there is more interest among baseball fans, but how does the presence or absence of baseball talent affect the degree of "devastation" associated with the death?

Out of curiosity, why do you think the hundreds of other deaths that day don't matter?

Read the article I posted above.  I think it accurately hits the feeling, at least for me.

So I looked up the BAC limit in the DR.  Apparently it's zero, but there is a limit of 0.05 for "professionals"....this accroding to Wiki and supported by other pages I've found.  I can only imagine that the 5x BAC is referencing the 0.05...so we're talking 0.25 - that's pretty damn drunk.

That's completely shitfaced.  And driving 100 mph in the rain.
