Will be an exciting post-season for the Chesapeake Bay states.
By the way, I happened to see a very interesting pitcher who's in the Nationals' system a week and a half ago. Kid named Reynaldo Lopez, pitching for Hagerstown in the (Lo-A) Sally league Championship rubber game. Sat around 95 with the fastball and hit 96 and 97 several times, mixed in a curve that got multiple called and swinging strike 3s. Also threw something about 92 - slider? Two-seamer?
Looked like he had good mechanics - somewhat odd delivery with a couple pauses in it, but repeated it very well. He totally shut down Greensboro, who had several guys that had hit .300+ in the 2nd half, in their hitter-friendly park. Very, very impressive. I looked him up online and didn't see him on any Nats top prospects lists. Looks like he kinda came out of nowhere this year (injured before?) but put up incredible numbers between the NYPL and SAL. Surprisingly, didn't strike out a ton of guys in the regular season, but he K'd at least 10 in his 6 IP in this game. Definitely seemed like a kid to watch for if you're a Nats fan.
