I thought about posting this in Beer and Queso, but then decided it was about baseball.

It's ridiculous that Miller fucking Park has more varied and quality beer selection than MMPUS.

I've been drinking the Goose Island offereings lately, and I really like them. But fuck the Mariners.

The problem with all those "craft" beers at the ball yard is that 99% of "craft" beers suck donkey balls.

There's some good beer in Milwaukee.

I beg to differ. I tried "Milwaukee's Best" once and it sucked ass.

There is but you would be amazed at how many different varieties of Miller take up the tap space in that ballpark.

In 1975 I was a freshman on a spring break soccer trip. We had played 3 games in Waco and had done ok, and we were headed back to Houston. Those were still the days of open containers as long as the driver wasn't drinking (riiiight), so we had a cooler of beer in the back of the van. Sadly, it was filled with Pearl, and as cheap as it was, it was still pretty revolting. Probably on a par with Texas Pride.

They all taste the same...like hops added to bathwater.  Except Dogfish...which tastes like they used toilet water with the floaters filtered out.

I don't like overly hopped beer.  Hops should just counteract some of the sweetness, it shouldn't be a flavor in itself.

Drink ales that aren't IPAs.

Why would I drink ale when lager is available?

Exactly ... Craft brewing in this country has become a contest to see who can put the most hops into an otherwise drinkable beverage.  We are all guinea pigs in a hops-tolerance study.

Better is Czech.  Plzenski Prazdroj for instance, though Budvar (the original Budweis) is pretty good too.

I have yet to find a beer that's too hoppy for my taste.  My only gripe with the craft beer explosion is the alcohol content.  I like to drink more than one beer a night, and a pint of barley wine is not conducive to that preference.

In fact, other than fruit-based beers, the only type of beer I don't like is brown ale, as it is just dishwater with (or maybe without) a head.  Now, there are plenty of brands that I don't like, who make horrible versions of types of beer that I do like, but that's not the same thing (obviously).

I'm the same way... not a fan at all of brown ales, but I can get into most other styles. I'm not as big of an IPA guy as I used to be, and with that said I'll also note that the "hop explosion" hit its peak a few years ago and I don't think craft beer is all about over-hopping every kind of beer the way it used to be.

If anything, the more recent irritating trend is aging everything in bourbon barrels, which I do not like. If I want whiskey, I'll drink whiskey.

There is plenty of great craft beer out there and a lot of variety. It's also not hard to find. On top of HEB/Whole Foods/Central market in Austin (and 4-5 solid craft-focused convenience stores) we have at least a dozen craft bars, so I'm sure Houston quadruples that.

I was gonna say that HH should check out karbach's sympathy for the lager (he can probably relate), but I celebrate its entire catalog.

Chalk me up in this crowd as well. I don't mind the taste of hops, but only as a balancing agent to any sweetness of the recipe.

Germany too.  1 beer per shift allowed in the Audi Factory during breaks.  At work.  On the clock.

I can agree with this with the exception of their Christmas seasonal, Yule Shoot Your Eye Out.  Way too much juniper in the mix.  Like drinking a pine tree air freshener
