Maybe I'll have to make it a point to head over there for a game in the next few days...

Cedar Rapids.. home to the Twins low-A team, the Kernels.  Quad Cities comes to town a few times a year and this year they're all late season appearances.

Hope Springer was pulled tonight due to the rain.

Game was suspended at the end of 5 due to the rain.   Springer DH'd and had two walks.

They may get to finish the game tonight...

And East Moline is the fifth but that whole "Quint Cities" thing never caught on.

It's a mighty good road.
You may ask yourself, "How do I work this?"

Yep, aka the track, right of way or permanent way.

I know a guy in Houston used to work on the Rock Island (the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific actually), he ended up with the SP in Texas.  I got to know him while he was consulting over here a few years ago with a bunch of other SP guys.  The SP guys didn't have a high regard for the Rock Island, always called it a broke dick operation.  I loved teasing them ol' boys and tell them it didn't matter, Rock Island had the cool song and that's what counts.

And ... cities?

Sorry, not sure what the question is asking?   The four towns that make up the Quad Cities are Bettendorf, Davenport, Moline, and Rock Island.

The guy from Beaumont is questioning whether Bettendorf, Davenport, Moline and Rock Island are cities.

Well, I guess that all hinges on what qualifies as a city.  By Iowa standards I think all four qualify. :)

Well, I guess that all hinges on what qualifies as a city.

I believe it requires your conurbation to have a cathedral.

Thus, when someone describes some thing as "the cathedral city of...", they're being redundant.

Beaumont is one of the cities of the (coastal) plain.  :sniff:

Nowhere near that large.  Vernon, the minor league baseball team of which was fittingly the Dusters.  I'm not sure if that was oil related or just dust related.
