Brian Cashman's Ferrari
« on: April 01, 2014, 12:59:17 am »
Quote
To Cashman, any fellow GM who would look over to the Yankees and say he wished he could have the same resources is seriously underestimating what accompanies those resources. "This is a very fast-moving Ferrari," Cashman said. "And in many cases, those same people who talk that talk would be an insect smashing against the windshield and getting splattered all over the place because they can't believe the amount of velocity that this car is moving at.

Chron article.

That's gonna make him real popular with his GM brethren.

I actually think he's right.  There are plenty of people who wouldn't want to deal with "The Boss", the NY media, the egos of the field nor the fans and are quite content where they are.  This is true in just about any industry I suspect.

Either he has a pretty high opinion of himself or a low opinion of his fellow GMs.  I assume most GMs would love to bury their mistakes in cash, even if that comes with some added pressure.

It's the former. Cashman is a thrill seeker. It doesn't surprise me that he has a Ferrari.

I wonder how Cashman would do in a situation where he was handed the keys to  a jalopy that couldn't get passed for the state inspection sticker.

Fuck Cashman. He's an arrogant dickhead, judging by everything I've read or heard about him. I hope the Astros' beat-up old pickup (with its brand-new discount tires) drives right over his Ferrari tonight.

I hope they take that beat-up old pick-up, back the hell up, and do it again.

Looking at the moves Luhnow made in the off-season. Would the victory last night have been possible w/o Feldman, Fowler, Guzman, Qualls and Albers on this team?

No way to know. Might have been 4 to 3. They were due to beat the Yankees. It was just one game, can't read too much into it. Savor the victory.

They were due to win a game against anyone.
