Bad news....

"Bud Selig wants a Mariano Rivera-esque farewell tour of all 30 MLB parks this season"

"I want to talk to season-ticket holders and fans," he said. "I've got a lot of people to thank."

That idea came about, he said, in part because several clubs reached out to him after his announcement and asked to honor him, but also because Rivera's farewell tour got Selig to thinking about ways to connect with people who love baseball.

"I like that," Selig said. "I like talking to people. And ... that's what I want to do: [speak to] season-ticket holders, people who work at ballparks. I just like to walk around and talk to people. I love that. I did that when I ran the Brewers. And I enjoyed it. I miss that.[/i]

If he thinks he can come to Houston and expect anything less than boos and eggs thrown at him, than he is even more out of touch with reality than ARod.

There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

He can't honestly think coming to Houston is a good idea.  A game honoring him would sell out and have a Beltran 2006 type atmosphere (not good).

The entire city should plan something special!  I'm starting work on my FYB! sign right now!

I'm gonna have to get a lot of Dr. Pepper down if I'm going to piss on him from my seat. Might need to do some preparatory exercising.
I'm in love with rock and roll and I'll be out all night.

What an egotistical prick.

Here's a horrifying thought: will the Veterans' Committee elect Bud to the HOF? With the likes of Kenesaw Landis and Bowie Kuhn in there already, I suppose you could say there's a precedent for shitty and/or assholish Commissioners getting in.

I'm in, but he'll require the roof to be closed.

Of course he'll be elected to the Hall of Fame.  The Hall of Fame also hates Houston.

Probably.  But it'll make the news anyway.

There is no Veteran's Committee anymore.  His candidacy will be reviewed by the Expansion Era Committee.  Since the Committe meets every three years, they're due to meet again in 2016.  However, Selig must be retired for five years before he's eligible, so he'll be reviewed in 2019.  I can't imagine he won't be an unanimous selection.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

How about an entire line of FYB gear? Sales outside the stadium should be brisk.

too bad he didn't retire about ten years ago..if he had it's possible we'd still be in the NL and maybe with an extra division title...
Remember Jesus Alou being called out of the 1st base coaching box to pinch-hit a double vs. the Reds in '79 I think, to win a crucial game, and he patted Morgan on top of the head (ala Benny Hill w/the little bald guy) and Little Joe got pissed.....yeah,that was great.
