OKC @ RR outing?
« on: August 16, 2013, 08:35:25 pm »
OKC comes to Round Rock next Wednesday for a 5-game series. I intend to go to at least one of those games, probably Wednesday and/or Thursday. Anybody else interested in joining me to take a gander at Springer and Singleton?

I could go Friday.
I'm in love with rock and roll and I'll be out all night.

Wednesday or Thursday are my best options. Friday is a possibility.

Springer is DHing tonight; Lin is in CF. There's actually a smattering of Astros caps here tonight.

Walks in his first AB on a 3-1 count (he walked twice last night, too). Then he steals second cleanly but is stranded there.

Doesn't look like Singleton is in the lineup tonight.

Some guy just who just showed scored the dumbfecta: Rangers cap and Cowboys shirt.

Clemens with an easy bottom of the 1st. He's smaller than I realized.

Clemens allows two base runners in the bottom of the 2nd, but escapes courtesy of a caught stealing and a strikeout. But he grabbed his elbow and seemed unhappy coming off the mound, so we'll see if he comes back out.

Clemens gives up an unearned run after Paredes fields a routine ground ball to short and throws it into the stands.

Clemens still doesn't look very comfortable out there, but there's nobody up I've the pen.

One "40" down, one "40" to go! Congrats to George Springer for "joining Ruben Rivera and Darryl Strawberry as the only Minor Leaguers with at least 30 home runs and 40 stolen bases in the last 40 years."

Springer nubs a ball to short and then beats the high throw, which is scored an error. He steals second again, but Paredes strands him again.

Krauss ties the game with a solo shot to the RCF bullpen.

Clemens back our for the 5th, but his velocity is down to 88-89 fom 92-93. Somebody hits a ball to Paredes at short and this time he throws it in the dirt but is bailed out by Singleton, who has replaced Krauss at first.

Springer hits a humpback liner that the shortstop makes a nice leaping grab on. But Laird picks him up with a two-run shot to LF that gives OKC a 3-1 lead.

That was a superb catch to rob Springer of the hit.

Clemens comes back out for the 6th and the comedy of errors begins. Somebody grounds to the 2B side of the mound, Clemens dives and grabs it and then throws it away. Next guy grounds just under Singleton's glove and the right fielder overruns to put runners on 1st and 3rd. Clemens hits the next guy to load the bases. Next batter hits a hard ground ball to Laird(?) at 3rd, who comes home in plenty of time, but the catcher leaves the plate early so no out is recorded. Next guy cranks a grand slam to the roof of the equipment shed. Next guy hits a ball to 3rd that takes a bad hop and results in another runner. Then Clemens hits the next guy. They've finally replaced him with Cisneros, but there are two runners, no outs, and five runs in.

If there was any doubt about where the Astros are perfecting their sloppy ways, there isn't anymore.

And there's a single to score the sixth run of the inning. Where!!!! Half-price Papa John's pizza tomorrow.

Another single under Simgleton. I am not impressed.

And now a three-run homer. That's 10 runs this inning, and there's still nobody out.

I was in Austin yesterday morning and seriously considered staying over, even though I'd promised Kris I'd be back.  It would have been bad to have faced both my wife's wrath and that game.  I've seen enough of those games this season.

Well, that's interesting. I was going to repair some of my iPhone's "corrections", but there's no option to edit my messages. I guess the system is locking them down based on IP address rather than user creds.

Was the new addition from Mexico around?  I assume he is hard to miss.

He wasn't on the field if he was around. The lineup had the usual suspects.

By the way, Jose Martinez doesn't seem to be much more than 1.0 Altuves tall. If we could somehow pick up Pedroia, we'd have the undersized 2B market cornered.
