Been working on application stuff for jobs in Korea. Now I got some chili simmering on the stove but can't find a stream for the game.

Yeah I'm burnt out in my field and need something new. Plus I can get a master's degree for very little money over there.

All over the place, but making pitches when he's had to do so.

I'm here, watching and reading along.  I won't be around for the whole game though.  I have to go to work soon.

Holy shit. I don't know how Peacock got out of that jam with no runs scoring. Wish I could have seen that unfold.

He's pulling pitches out of his ass when he needs them.

Nice of Crane to give Nolan Drayton's old seat.  Also see the Ranger's broadcast is taking a poll on whether Tal's Hill should remain.  Nice to know they are looking after their poor stepchild.

Amazing how this club always rebounds day after day (til the pen shows up). That is an impressive trait.

Well, gee, there's a surprise: the bullpen surrenders the lead in the 7th inning. This is completely ridiculous. This is the sorriest excuse for a bullpen that I have ever seen.

I'm wearing an Astros shirt at work tonight and as I got in the elevator this other guy who works there said, "Your Astros are beating my Rangers tonight."

I resisted calling him a frontrunning jackass and just told him, "Wait 'til they get to the bullpen." And sure enough, it happens.

Having even a mildly competent backup SS would have helped Chapman.

Astros pull ahead, thanks to a WP scoring a runner from 3rd.

Jesus Christ. I just came back in from outside and heard the cheering, which I figured was a bad sign since there wouldn't be enough Astros fans to make a detectible noise. Then I saw the replay of fucking Rios streaming into 3rd.

And now I watch fucking Castro get the ball knocked out of his glove at home. I assume that this is all some sort of test of the strength of my immortal soul.

Astros now pull behind with terrible defense from Barnes and Castro, and poor pitching from Harrell.  Always figuring out ways to lose: Barnes dive for a ball which lands two feet in front of him, allowing a triple and Castro drops as easy a tag at home he will ever have in his career.

Welp, Centenario got a 4-1 wakeup call this afternoon in the opening game of the LNA apertura. I knew it was going to be tough. Our best player was bought by a Costa Rican club. Our excellent goalkeeper had been causing trouble and was not invited to continue with the team. Two of our other best players were kept out of most of the game because of issues on the practice field. We looked bad and overmatched.

But it was great to get the season started and I'm sure we'll improve. I'd assumed that we'd take the first half of the season, the apertura, to get settled and then challenge in the second half, the clausura. We'll see but so far we're squarely in the getting settled phase.

Castro is a serious disappointment as a defensive player. He's a bit of a disappointment as a hitter, too, now that I think about it.

He is better defensively than last year, but he is still bad.  I sometimes wonder if the club views him as a long-term option there.

However, I think he looks good as a hitter.  Not sure if he hits well enough as a first baseman or DH though, assuming that has crossed their minds.

It is over. Two well struck balls by Elmore and Altuve around a walk to Grossman, but both were caught.

Astros give up 5.  Only 2 were earned.  Really more of a defensive breakdown than the typical bullpen collapse.  Still not much consolation.

Leaving tonight's game, i said that next time the Rangers sucked I was going to buy an orange jersey and drive to Dallas.  Then I thought that if I did that Bud would have won.  Maybe I'll buy an orange jersey and drive to St Louis.
