Dwight Howard a Rocket?

Everyone seems to think it's all but done but I've not seen anything official.
Everyone's talking, few of them know
The rest are pretending, they put on a show
And if there's a message I guess this is it

This will hopefully bring a championship to Houston and CSN Houston to the masses.

Wish the Rockets would bring back the mustard and ketchup uniforms and do away with the Chinese National Team inspired kits.

I'm with you. Howard doesn't inspire a great deal of confidence in me.

oh, I don't know shit about Howard and don't know if that brings a championship.  But, I hope.  Still, it creates demand for CSN, although given the crap I am presently viewing, I am starting to wonder why I care.

How about the rest of the team?

We'll see how much of the team is left after they start selling off pieces to make way for Howard's salary. And I'm willing to bet that at the end of the year, Howard's numbers won't be any better than Asik's were this year. But Howard will only play 60 games.

They supposedly can afford him without changes.

I think y'all underestimate those surrounding him.  IMO, the Rockets have a lot of pretty good young players.

I think they have good, young players, too. I just think that Howard is that special kind of player that makes the whole less than the sum of its parts.

Apparently now he's 50-50 Rockets / Lakers.  I think he's a special player... but he's also a special kind of headcase.

This is exactly the sort of drama that you'll be subject to every day with this guy. Better to let him sabotage the Lakers.

Neither here nor there... but...

ClutchFans ‏@clutchfans
Stephen A. Smith says he spoke to Dwight Howard and it was Houston all the way. He never flip-flopped, as was reported

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA
Los Angeles issued a statement saying that Howard informed Kupchak of his decision "to not return to the Lakers."

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA
Dwight Howard's plan was always to meet with the Lakers a final time and tell MItch Kupchak of his decision.

He's not going to be a laker for sure

If it weren't for Howard's history, ESPN would have some egg on their face on this one.  They still have the 50-50 story as the cover of espn.com.

Second only to a Tweet from Berman...

Mark Berman ‏@MarkBermanFox26
Can confirm from NBA sources that Dwight Howard has informed the Houston Rockets he is joining their organization.

Then again, Wessling has a point...

John Wessling ‏@johnwessling
Maybe I'm cynical, but I won't believe Dwight Howard is a Rocket until Broussard tells us he signed with the Lakers.

I'm a life-long Lakers fan, going back to the Jerry West days, but they need to fire D'Antoni, get past Kobe and start over.

I rooted for West and Baylor as a kid (and Chamberlain, Goodrich, and Hairston), but, FUCK THE LAKERS.  First thing they need to do fire that overrated piece of shit Kupchak (who owes his success to West and Bryant).

I wouldn't be opposed to running off Kupchak too. The Busses are fucking up the team right now. And that God damn zen meister needs to either coach the club again or STFU.

Huh?

I'm guessing Howard will sit out 20+ games with various maladies. I hope he does great, but I'm very skeptical.

Well, he has missed 23 regular season games in his entire career (out of a possible 720), so missing 20+ next year would be a little odd barring some bad injury.

He and Harden could be/should be a more lethal combo than he and Kobe were, only because of the puck and roll. I only say "could be" because the headcase label is not casually given; dude is unpredictable as a teammate. He showed more promise late in the season, but you better get used to hack-a-Howard--or watch the Spurs.

Head case or not, he is the best center in the league. And one of the worst free throw shooters too.

Apparently, Dwight bought breakfast for everyone in line at the Breakfast Klub this morning, so that's cool.  In the immortal words of Hunter Pence, "Houston's gotta eat!"

Their catfish and grits are amazing.  Eat that breakfast, and you won't have to eat again until dinner.

I heard about that. That's pretty cool of him. I've still never been to TBK- every time I try, the line's down the block.
