Marwin to OKC, LeBlanc DFA'D.
I'm in love with rock and roll and I'll be out all night.

That's kinda surprising. Is Villar coming up?

Answered my own question. Move will be made Tuesday. Either Villar or Elmore will come up it is expected.

Smith was saying his money was on Elmore (based on separate comments at different times a month'ish ago from Luhnow noting that Villar needed to develop some consistency and that he expected Elmore to be back with the club at some point...

I don't like this move at all if it means that Cedeno is the SS.

I see Smith's logic and I assume he is correct, but it's an odd move in that Elmore is more second than short, just based on his playing history.  So, the move would then either amount to a Cedeno for Marvin swap, or a chance to give a second baseman a shot at the starting shortstop spot?

I agree.  And both Villar & Gonzalez really do need to play regularly at SS.  I guess the paid staff can figure that out too, though.  My guess is that Villar comes up, but if he does, I do not expect the pitchers to be thrilled.  Marwin really booted one the other day, but he is far more polished at SS than Villar and both have true SS range (which, IMO, Cedeno lacks).

Villar/Cedeno platoon makes sense offensively.

Ugh. Not looking forward to more of Cedeno, which it sounds like this entails, based on Luhnow's comment:

“We do need another backup middle infielder, but that’s all I can say about it right now,” Luhnow said.

So I'm guessing Elmore. He was primarily a SS before this season. Oddly, he's also been playing some LF recently at OKC.

That kind of flexibility is valuable, what with all of the pinch-hitting and double-switches needed to work around the pitcher's spot in the lineup.

Elmore (2B) and Villar (SS) have both played all 7 innings of OKC's game tonight thus far.

Elmore and Wallace recalled, per Brian Smith.

And thus begins likely Wallace's last chance.  If he can succeed, they'll have a nice problem next year.

Probably trying to deal Pena and it gives Singleton a spot in OKC.

That would explain clearing the 40-man spot.

If you get 2 players back.
(Of course, if you get two players back for Pena, then Luhnow's a wizard.)

FIFY?

And thus begins likely Wallace's last chance.  If he can succeed, they'll have a nice problem next year another trading chip a month from now.

It would be a shame if he took away critical at bats from Pena.

My thought as well. Why would anyone get up in arms that Wallace gets more PT in a group of spare parts at the MLB-level. I suppose they want him blocking Singleton at OKC? maybe he could go back to Corpus and win the Texas league MVP.
