Good day for the organization
« on: May 27, 2013, 08:50:12 pm »
Won at every level (5 for 5).  Springer had 2 HRs and 5 RBI, Santana with 4 hits including a HR, DeShields had his second consecutive 4 hit game, Correa had 3 hits and 4 RBI, Tropeano and Velasquez both had wins (though neither pitched great) and Singleton's suspension is officially over.

Good times keep rolling.  Another organizational sweep day (4 for 4).  (yesterday was 4 out of 5).  Singleton showing why he's the number one prospect with his second game with a HR.

Whoa...let's not get carried away now.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Did anyone else read this as a claim that the Brewers had won only 7 games all year?  I knew that was not right, but had to look it up anyway before I could parse the sentence.

I agree with you on some things. I really do. However, in my opinion, you're wrong about Veras. He's not an elite closer by any stretch of the imagination, but he's got plus stuff and can be a serviceable pitcher.

Did anyone else go to the standings page on mlb.com to look at how many each team has won and scroll to the National League section to find the Astros?

You are getting sleepy, very sleepy....

Better yet, it was an inter league rivalry series.  Didn't you feel the tension between the two teams? I did.  You could cut the tension with a knife.  Bitter rivals on every level, just like the Cubs and White Sox.  However, on even numbers years, you must hate the Diamondbacks instead of the Rockies.

When I snap my fingers, you will be awake. SNAP

My godson (age 8 ) recently asked what a Kardashian was - "is that when two women get married?"

Also, three wins better than the Marlins.

So, has there been any teeth-gnashing about how unfair it is that the Braves and Nationals have a wild-card advantage while feasting on the Marlins?

Serious question; maybe there has been.  I just remember the bitching and moaning from Whitey and his ilk when they realized the supposed ramifications of the Astros move the AL West.

No, because there was no impact on the Yankees or Red Sox.  However, most writers are starting to realize that the Phillies and Nationals can make up ground quickly because of this.

I watched a game last week with the Oakland A's playing teh Jints (on the MLB channel). It was obvious that the broadcast team was the other team, as the A's were visiting. Any way, the announcer was gushing about how good the A's were (at least currently). The color guy quickly said "Anybody can be good coming off a sweep of the Houston Astros. What are they... 9-0 against them?" The color guy said "Well, true, but that's what good teams do... they don't let up on lesser teams... besides, that is what all the teams in the AL West used to do with the Seattle Mariners. If you don't let up, you deserve those wins because you're a good team. I don't think it's fair to say that the Houston Astros struggles indicate that the teams that beat them are not as good as they seem. At least not this Oakland A's team."

I had the MLB network on last night and they were live covering the last two outs against Colorado. Rockie announcers were broadcasting. Boy, were they disgusted when the Rock's lost. Something to the effect that "this was not what I expected of the last few days."  It was in the tone of a young boy that found his dog had died.

Astros are 4-3 vs NL teams with winning records, 4-28 vs AL teams with winning records.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Happy Organizational Sweep Day.  GCL was postponed with an 8-8 tie after 10 but 8-0 from the other teams.

An apparantly an exciting walk off inside the park homerun from DeShields.
