Here's wishing Philip Humber the best of luck.

Agreed. I strongly suspect that he is pitching for a job in the big leagues tonight, which is a lot of pressure on the road.

I really like Castro's plate approach and presence. He now looks like a hitter. I must admit that I had my doubts about his hitting in years past, but it seems that he began to figure it out toward the end of last season.

Astros load the bases against an uncharacteristically wild Kuroda but come away empty. If we allow Kuroda to find his release point, then it will be a long night for the Good Guys. 1-0 Bottom 2

Youkilis is on the DL?  How can that be, he's not on my fantasy team?

Yankees announcers segue from 'a dozen MLB players will make more than the entire Astros roster' to yakking about what a nice visit they had from Crane yesterday, and what a mess he inherited.

Did they change the call on that to a wild pitch? That's fucking unfair if they did. Castro clearly should have had that ball.

From what I've seen, yes. Pathetic defense.

Ichiro run was a gift from Castro.  Run 4 was a gift from Marwin.  I missed run 3.  first one was a homerun so that is all Humber.

He's been much better, but in my opinion, he is still not good tonight. Too many of his offerings catch too much plate.

I put at least three of those on Castro. They weren't classic passed balls, but Castro should have been able to corral them. One of them was a clear passed ball in my opinion but was called a wild pitch.

Strike 3 to Ichiro should have been a passed ball.  Castro came up and jabbed down at the ball.  Looked pretty bad.

Looked like Castro may have been crossed up on the pitch.  He rose up like he was expecting a fastball inside and got a slider.  (Ichiro was expecting fastball as well)

Altuve w/ a 2 run double.  Altuve is hurt?

Another fine recap by Reuben.

Overbay's a lefty.

Other than that, yes, a fine recap. Reube, mix in a couple of wacky, drunken, anthropomorphic characters and you could be OWA's very own Tony Millionaire.

By the way, if Humber was pitching for his job as widely speculated, he keeps it. If Castro was catching for his job, he IS the weakest link, goodbye.

Outstanding, and with Pettitte on the mound, how can they lose?

But, don't you usually blame all catchers for all Wild Pitches?

Not necessarily. I just think that a big league catcher should be able to block balls in the dirt because they practice this all the time. I consider that a core competency for a catcher. It's almost as if Castro is crossed up by the spin on the ball. He knows (almost all of the time) what pitch is coming. The ball will always break in the opposite direction of the spin on the ball. Castro doesn't seem to know this. If I'm a pitcher and I've got a hitter in a favorable pitcher's count with a runner on 3B, if I don't have confidence that my catcher can block the ball, I probably will shake off the spiked yellow hammer call when it is the right pitch to throw to this particular hitter.

God damnit, Castro. Turn your fucking glove the correct way. That was his fourth passed ball this season, which is too many.

stop it.
