Fernando, not JD, in LF?
RF somehow injured recording a F9 from Altuve. Wall?
MLB At Bat says Injury Delay. What's going on?
Twin killing!
I'm liking this new strategy of getting hits and stuff.
That, boys and girls, is why you ALWAYS run hard to first...
I think this may be Wallace's best game.
And in Castro's case, second!
I don't know why, but I don't find that funny.
Mariners broadcasters just noted that Beavan is taking 45 seconds between pitches. RIDICULOUS
Ashby is jonesing for someone to get hit by pitch because it's the only way they've not gotten on base yet.
/golf clap/ I look for a roster move there soon.
JD Martinez with a 2B shot of the base of the RF wall, Pena scores from 1B. T3 (1 out, runner on 2B): HOU 5, SEA 0
It's not. It's mean-spirited and cruel.
I thought there was an actual rule about having 10 seconds or so after receiving the ball back on the mound.
No. No. That's not it.
I think it has literally never been enforced.
No-no broke up on a HR to left. End 3: HOU 5, SEA 1
Really? What then? It didn't feel funny when I wrote it. Snide, maybe, but not funny.
Not at the MLB level anyway. Hey Jacksonian, aren't they doing something to try to enforce that at the MiLB level?
It seemed more like a kick to the junk when the guy's already passed out.
Yeah, a cheap shot, only crueler. But what else can you do with Wallace? You feel for the guy. You'd like him to succeed. He's not, and will not. It's horrible to watch, but there you go. You know what? Watching Wallace is like watching Ensberg, except with Ensberg there was success, not just expectation.
Raul Ibanez is older than Bo Porter?
Wow. Dominguez with a diving knock-down of a shot down the 3B line (looked like it might've been a catch for a sec), quick recovery, and throw from the knees to get the runner by a step (2nd out).
Oh, I get it. He's not just failing. He's failing embarrassingly. When someone is that lost, not just not getting it done, it's hard to really make fun of him. It's not his fault Luhnow won't send him down.
Except that at this point with Wallace's career, it's not getting sent down, it's his last chance. It's like watching a car wreck, or a drunk, or a divorce. It just seems horrible and inevitable.
It's not like he is 35. I don't know why it would be his last chance. But you know hitters. He could go 10 for 10 the next 3 games.
He's the same age as Castro.
Maybe. I just don't think he's going to have many more chances to go 10 for 10.
If this pitcher don't start throwing the ball it is gonna be time to get up when I get to go to bed.
Neither here nor there, but those 25 runs scored last night were the most scored in Safeco history (previous high: 24 in SEA vs. NYY game).
Where did peacock come from?
This Jim Beam Devil's Cut goes down smooth.
Somehow I'd always pegged you as a Budweiser Black Crown guy... **ducks**
What did I ever do to you?!?!
I think the announcer just called Castro Juan Castro.
Wallace seems to be the favorite whipping boy to date this season. But, I hope he figures it out while he is still with the Astros. I think the kid is not going to miss every pitch he sees.
When you're going .048 and embarrassing the fuck out of yourself in the act, you're going to attract some negative attention. Wallace isn't just missing pitches. He's taking pitches that he should have swung at and swinging at pitches that he couldn't hit with a 2 by 4. He's badly overmatched right now. It's been a long time since I've seen a big league hitter this lost at the plate.
They were pretty much all overmatched last week. I'm not saying something needs to be done, but I don't know that sending Wallace down is the right thing. How does that effect his options and whatnots?
Carlos Peña, recently considered "done" by a certain moody poster, has had 5 hits including 2 doubles and a walk the last two games.
I assume that this reference is to me; it's okay to call me out, but I do object to being called moody when nothing could be farther from the truth. I'm glad that Pena has gotten some hits lately. However, I still maintain that his long, slow swing won't consistently catch up to a hittable fastball. I'd throw him nothing but high fastballs until he either proves that he can handle that pitch or he starts laying off of it. If you throw him anything else, I believe that you are doing him a favor.
you cannot stop yourself, can you?
In what respect? My opinion on Carlos Pena? What do you think about my conclusion, and if it differs from mine, how so, and how would you pitch him? I had Pena for awhile last season on my fantasy team and watched a fair number of his AB's until I dropped him. I see little difference from last season so far. High fastballs is how I would approach him.
He's not talking about your opinion on Carlos Pena. He's talking about your over the top pessimism and over analysis in general. For example, Pena has always been a streaky hitter prone to strikeouts. He has hit under .200 in 2 of the last 3 years. You don't need to tell us how you would pitch Pena and make over the top bold proclamations that he's done based on one game or week.
Your name is Mr. Happy. Happy is a mood.
I understand your position; I'm just trying to be honest and not provocative in any way. If I was "over the top" in my pessimism, then I apologize. I just thought that if I can figure out how to pitch a guy just from watching him from the television, big league team scouting and pitching should already know that. Now, knowing it and executing it are two different kettles of fish. I will attempt to refrain from posting some of my opinions.
Don't refrain, just own up to them.
"I object""The objection has been overruled... now, I want to hear the doctor's expert opinion!""I strenuously object!"
Seattle D with an Astros' special in shallow CF, and a hustling Castro makes it to 2B (Scorer calling it an error on CF, but I'd imagine that'll be changed to a 2B as the SS lost the ball and CF was charging hard to pick it up).
Speaking of rough times at the dish, Wallace isn't the only one having difficulties thusfar:Pedro Alvarez: 2-30, 14 Ks, .076 AVG;Aaron Hicks: 2-35, 16 Ks, .057 AVG;Russel Martin: 1-23, .043 AVG; Ryan Hanigan: 1-23, .043 AVG;Yunel Escobar: 3-30, .100 AVG;Todd Helton: 2-21, .095 AVG.Still hoping he turns things around!
The error was changed to a double by the Official Scorer (per Brownie).
But not a moody mood.
I thought that was what I was doing. I have a number of quirks, and over-analysis is but one of them. But you folks already knew that. I just apparently got under DVauthrin's skin today, and for that I profusely apologize.
Yeah well the moody blues ain't exactly a color either.
You didn't get under my skin at all, honestly. I was just trying to help you understand where Jim was coming from. I'm as quirky, opinionated, and passionate as anyone here, trust me.
Well, don't you feel like a horse's ass?
