In the first inning, the two teams each scored a pair of runs, with the Astros scoring on a two run Justin Maxwell dinger, his fourteenth.

Are we merging the minor league gamezone with this one tonight? Valleycats are tied 1-1 in the 4th, looks like they have runners on 1st and 2nd with nobody out.

Top of the fourth inning, still tied 2-2. Hey OSF!!!

Howdy!  Gotta run (denial league duties. except its softball, so doesn't even qualify as denial league...). Adios!

BTW, here are the MiLB boxes for the two games that have started:

Tri-City at Auburn: BOX SCORE

Frisco at Corpus: GameDay LINK

Go 'Cats! And Hooks! And JetHawks! And Astros! (and Skeeters, if you really must know...).

meanwhile, Ross Seaton has struck out 4 in 2 innings for Corpus, no score there. Jed Lowrie DHing tonight.

In addition to the Gameday/Box Score links I added previously, you can also listen to the 'Cats, Hooks, and JetHawks games for free via MiLB Gameday audio.  Here is the link for all the teams: Gameday Audio LINK

Still 2-2 going to the bottom of the fifth inning. OSF: Dude-softball not only is not denial league worthy, but there are serious questions as to whether it is a real sport! Men getting together to drink beer is more like it. Now, women's fast-pitch softball--that's a sport.

Good grief. F-Mart way too casual there, then missed 2 cut-off men on a horrible throw to 3rd.

Wow. That was a great DP by Harrell and Snyder there, though. Snyder showing some veteran savvy there, faking to 1st and then catching Ludwick rounding 3rd too far.

Still 4-4 in the 'Cats playoff game. By the way, Auburn has a player named Spencer Kieboom.

Harrell is too one-dimensional to give up four free passes in five frames. Someone on here, and I think that it either was Jacksonian or AppyAstros or someone knowledgeable like those guys, said that walks were Harrell's problem in Chicago.

At least one of those was intentional. I understand what you guys keep saying about being one-dimensional, but he keeps getting the job done (pretty much). If he didn't have a left fielder auditinoning as a statue and a shortstop who plays like that old-fashioned cartoon character with his hands all bandaged up, this game would still be tied.

I think some of those walks arise from the fact that Harrell knows that the defense behind him sucks. If he had more confidence that they could catch a ball, I think he might come in just a little bit more.

Tri-City takes a 5-4 lead in the 7th.

Austin Wates walked to break up the perfecto, but Frisco pitcher still has a no-hitter going, now 0-0 in the 6th at CC.

He's got a plus fastball and a plus sinker. If his curveball comes around, then he's got a bright future assuming that his command stays put.

My "bandaged hands" comment stems from a very vivid image I have in my head of drawings from some book or magazine or something from my youth. These guys would make the perfect Astros logo. I'm searching up and down for them, but so far I can't find them.

Fernando Martinez makes JD Martinez look fleet of foot.

Valleycats game is final, they win 5-4. Looks like they used 5 pitchers in the 9th inning, and left the bases loaded. Game 2 tomorrow night, if they win then or Sunday they would advance to the NYPL finals.

And it wasn't down in the zone.. pretty nifty piece of hitting

Gameday showed that it was up in the strike zone. Come on, Wilton Lopez. I wish that I had a good feeling about Lopez as a closer, but I don't.

Jesus Christ, how perfect is that? A ground ball hits the 3B bag and pops over Dominguez? Just hit them all with lightning bolts and end it now.

Only got to catch a few minutes on TV, but it sure seemed like an awful lot of empty seats for a first place team on a Friday night in September.

Not looking good in Corpus. Frisco scores 3 in the 9th (so far) and lead 5-0.

...and ballgame, final score 5-0, CC manages just 2 hits (both by Kike Hernandez), Seaton the tough-luck loser, 7 1/3 IP, 10 hits (1 double, 9 singles), 2 runs, 1 intentional BB, 6 K.

Jed Lowrie struck out 4 times in his 1st rehab game. Wonder if they'll send him to Lancaster or (fingers crossed) Tri-City now?

Ah damn. My apologies, I should soften my language. At least I haven't offended any Chinamen.

Jethawks just scored on a bases-loaded HBP by Domingo Santana, scoring DeShields to take the lead, 2-1, top of the 6th.

Very impressive catching up with that pitch which looked to be about shoulder high. I think Brown said that he was originally scratched because of the flu.

I haven't had a chance to see him since he's returned, but it appears that Dominguez is hitting a lot better now.

Actually held out because of a sore wrist. He showed a very compact swing on the HR.

Yes, he does. He hit better in minors after he was sent down from his origianal short stay. I'm pulling for him because he plays good defense and with seen the position played so poorly most of the year.
