http://espn.go.com/mlb/blog/_/name/stark_jayson/id/8420733/pittsburgh-pirates-trying-avoid-wrong-kind-history-mlbJust in case this article hasn't been linked. I really enjoyed it. you might too. Man I really miss Pravda. He could have started a whole new section devoted to the pirates titled, "news gene collier can use to shove up his ass."
Gene Collier's team is on the verge of doing something unique. They are a mere 4 losses away from completing a collapse that no other baseball team has ever accomplished. I really have to thank Gene Collier for helping me to give a shit. After nineteen years of loosing seasons, so many of which the Astros were in contention and even sometimes winning the division, I couldn't manage anything but indifference to the irrelevant fucking favorite team of Gene. But then the Astros get sucked into a bizzaro world vortex and they are soon to be an AL team. And some of the fine Astros fans here mention that their NL love is moving to Pittsburgh. I get it, but I feel sorry for them all the same. Fuck, they'll be living in the same part of baseball fandom as Gene Collier for pity's sake.
So Gene Collier writes his ugly little farewell article and I enjoy imagining that Gene Collier lowlife classless idiot is suffering as his team contends for its twentieth consecutive losing season. And I
am paying attention to the Gene's team now, if only for the next nine games. Not that I am cheering for the Reds or Braves or Mets to win--no I still completely hate the Braves and Mets. I am merely enjoying the strides Gene's Team makes towards a unique baseball collapse. Thanks again, Gene. You helped to make this last gasp of baseball much more interesting.
Pat Conroy needed only one losing season to mine the experience into a moving novel. I wonder what Gene can do with twenty? That's right, nothing. Because classless idiot Gene just experiences 1 losing season twenty times. Right Gene?
Good-bye Gene's team.
