I happened to be listening to the Brewers-FTC broadcast today, and Brewer broadcaster Joe Block made reference that the Brewers are about to put up a statue of Bob Uecker outside Miller Park. This is in the bottom of the third inning while the game was going on. Block then immediately falls into a well-played straight man role, lobbing softballs Uecker's way in between calling the game; Uecker meantime goes into one of his classic stand-up comedy routines, talking about how he hoped he finished the statue in time, his power had been cut off because he didn't pay his bill so the only carving tool he had was a piece of sandpaper, he was going to need help carrying the statue from his house to the stadium, etc.
You had to be there, but it was classic ... it reminded me of one of Uecker's appearances on the old Johnny Carson show.
I was thinking, this is the most fun I've had listening to a baseball game in a long time.
