Given how inconsistently those rules are called, I'm almost of the opinion that they should just be dropped. Maybe keep the one about the leg crossing the line from the mound to 1st base. But this shit about not coming to a full stop is ridiculous.

The rule ought to be simply that a balk should be called when the umpires believe that there was intent to deceive the baserunner and get rid of all of those examples of balks that presently are the rules.

He wasn't GM so I wouldn't think he had anything to do with that. BTW, the key return to Atlanta when they dealt him to StL was J.D. Drew. I'm thinking they may regret that deal now.
