Texans 2012
« on: August 11, 2012, 07:32:10 pm »
First pre season game tonight.  A couple of observations through the first half...

1.  First team offense looking sloppy.
2.  First team defense looking sharp.
3.  Alan Ball is awful.
4.  Replacement refs suck.
5.  Texans wearing 10th Anniversary patches, even though this is their 11th year.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Apparently he's from the Kareem Jackson school of noncoverage.

That goon makes Jacques Reeves look like a fucking ball hawk. I say, sir, when you know that nine of your teammates are going to blitz and that you will be in man on the outside TURN THE FUCK AROUND.

Jacques Reeves...could run step for step with any receiver in the league.  Could not cover a single one of them.

One year after your wedding day, did you celebrate your first or second anniversary?
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

I celebrated my first anniversary which means that year was my second year of marriage.  Since we got married in 2002, we are now in our 11th year of marriage.  Likewise, the Texans will be playing their 11th season this year.  I know what an anniversary is.  However, I would have thought that the Texans would have celebrated their 10th season, not their 10th anniversary.

I would imagine that a year ago they would have been wary of celebrating anything.

On a side note...Case Keenum is now in the game.  I hope he does well and they keep in on the practice squad.

I was tempted to say "what makes you think I was celebrating anything one year after my wedding?", but I thought that was uncalled for.

This new rule about reviewing every turnover is going to get annoying as fuck, if it keeps up.  Five minutes to confirm an obvious interception or fumble?

Look at it this way, it will help you get accustomed to AL ball next year.

AL ball is a travesty, we all acknowledge that, but there is no significant difference in the length of NL v AL games.
You may ask yourself, "How do I work this?"

The Astros have celebrated some sort of anniversary/season every year for the past 10 years. The Texans are missing golden opportunities.
