Also note that Bogusevic is out.  I'm not advocating for him, or any other player for that matter, but I thought they were going to a platoon with Bogusevic.  Maybe I dreamt that, I don't know. The last month with this club has been a blur.

I think that some of speculated in the Game Zone based upon Bogusevic's absence against left-handed pitching. But Latos is a rightie, so all bets are off on Bogusevic as a starter period. In my recap of saturday's game, I suggested that it was time to cut bait on Bogusevic and that he be DFA'd.

Maybe Millsie has had enough too. Bogusevic hasn't been too bad off of the bench as a lefty pinch hitter, so he may now be playing the role that Buck had earlier in the season. I like Maxwell much better anyway, not that he's any great shakes either.

They're just saving Bogey to pinch hit.

I agree. Actually, I think that is a better role for him anyway. He also can be a late inning defensive replacement too, although that somewhat assumes that we're actually leading later in the game, which may not happen very often.

Anyone know why the game is not on FSH?

Don't know either. DirecTV guide says it's showing, but it's not. Just the DirecTV logo they show when the game is not on.

Was listening to the XM today, and someone from Indiana or somewhere actually called in a question about the quality of the Astros farm system now, in light of the recent acquisition of prospects by trade.

The host was some guy named Grant Paulsen, who I am not familiar with. I don't know if he is a reliable source of information on prospects or not. He did seem to be pretty familiar with Houston's system.

Anyway, his response was that Singleton and Cosart were the real deal, then there was a big drop off after that. He wasn't very excited about any of the guys picked up this week, and he doesn't like Springer, but said he could be wrong about that; and if he was he'd grade the system a lot higher.  Also said his only real concern with Singleton is his ability to consistently hit left-handed pitching.

For what it's worth.

I will be impressed if the Astros get anything of value in return for Wandy at this point. He does not look like a pitcher I would want to trade for at all right now.

I too am impressed by what Luhnow has accomplished thus far. This year and the next are going to be grim at the major-league level, but I think there's good reason for optimism in the not-too-distant future.

Interesting that Luhnow singled out Barnes so much. I've been wondering if he'd made any impression with his banner year in CC/OKC. This is not gonna be earth-shattering news to anyone: I'd love to see someone in CF besides Schafer, especially if it's someone good with the glove like Barnes is supposed to be.

If they make many more N-for-1 deals, they may have to get rid of Schafer and Bogusevic just to make room for the minor-leaguers.

Attempts to locate said nekkid guy were unsuccessful, as the neighbor who spied him kept driving on through the subdivision to purchase beer at QT, and he was unable to provide further directions to the "boardwalk," so to speak.

Looks like nekkid guy's brought us some luck this evening, since the team's apparently been locating balls as well. To hit. That is.

To hit suck. That is.

Fixed.

I got a kick out of all the hand-wringing about walking Schafer to get to Snyder. Please: they're the Astros. Just throw strikes and there's an 80% chance of getting any of them out.

You would've had a literal target. I just went out to move my truck into the driveway, and the neighbor told me what convinced him that the guy wasn't just wearing tan shorts was the tattoo on the buttcheek, which he saw when he did his double-take.

Back to the game, JD said this current Reds pitcher majored in sociology... and sliders... at UT. Maybe I should re-think my PhD concentration if it means I can major in sociology and sliders.

Wandy was bad in the first three innnings, but he found his release point in the fourth inning and pithed well after that. When he left, it was a 3-2 game. The extra five came courtesy of the Irregulators.

This place is a hell of a lot better when you're around.

I'm trying, I really am. But I don't know how much longer I can continue to dedicate evenings to watching these ... these ... contests.  I can't even imagine next year, when they will be basically the same, but four-and-a-half hours long.

I echo your sentiments to some degree, but if you disappear entirely on us, I shall be very put out.

Ah fuck. I totally forgot that I have tonight's recap for Budgirl. I used all of my venom on saturday's recap.

I thought it was a nice balance of facts, hope, hopelessness, and vitriol.
