Was listening to the XM today, and someone from Indiana or somewhere actually called in a question about the quality of the Astros farm system now, in light of the recent acquisition of prospects by trade.
The host was some guy named Grant Paulsen, who I am not familiar with. I don't know if he is a reliable source of information on prospects or not. He did seem to be pretty familiar with Houston's system.
Anyway, his response was that Singleton and Cosart were the real deal, then there was a big drop off after that. He wasn't very excited about any of the guys picked up this week, and he doesn't like Springer, but said he could be wrong about that; and if he was he'd grade the system a lot higher. Also said his only real concern with Singleton is his ability to consistently hit left-handed pitching.
For what it's worth.
