WTF is Carlos still in the lineup??
Most likely because the Astros are, despite appearances, trying to win games rather than exacting retribution demanded by internet dumbfucks.
Well then just what the fuck are we trying to accomplish here?
There's that too, but at what point do you look to the future by seeing at the big league level whether a guy on the farm (Wallace) can really handle the job?
At some point after today, obviously. Maybe the team thinks it has a reasonable chance of sending Carlos to a team that's not on his list. Maybe they know what they think of Wallace and aren't in any rush to promote him. Whatever the case even if the Astros are pissed at Carlos castigating an established veteran in a public manner simply for exercising a right granted to him in his contract is a bad, bad idea if you ever plan to land any decent FAs in the foreseeable future.
This team's futility with the bases loaded is fucking maddening.
Perfectly crappy base running. Probably costs a run.
I absolutely agree. I don't even favor benching him; actually, to the contrary. And that looks like how at least Millsie is going to handle it. Play him while you have him. However, if the powers that be have decided that he won't be back next year, I think it understandable that they'd want to see once and for all what Wallace is as an every day player. I don't think that a mere september call up will give them enough time to do that.
Outrageous and inexcusable. What the fuck is JD thinking and what the fuck is Clark doing?
chuck is the reasonable voice in this argument. I like that.
Marching onward to pick #1.
How much space is there between us and Minnesota?
That's two days in a row for a JD brain fart on the paths. And we leave them loaded again..
I think that at the end of the day the Padres are the only real competition.
Not following, how did JD cost them a run there?
Hit a leadoff double. Castro hits one to the right field track. JD is picnicking between second and third, and can't tag. Moore screams a grounder to third which would have scored JD if he had tagged. That run is looking pretty meager now though.
That's probably right, but never count out the futility of the FTC.
No pretense at effort. Millsie Queeg-like in the dugout.
So the 3rd baseman had to dive or something?
Every mail in more infamous than the last.
Is there anyone at OKC that could do better than Cruz? Because the jury's pretty well in on whether he can get out major league hitters.
They have to keep him on the 25 man as he is a Rule 5 guy, IIRC.
Where did everyone go? Just because we're down by a touchdown? O ye of little faith!
That implies that there's any reason to keep him under club control.
Fair enough, but isn't that the nature of Rule V guys: suck it up for a year and hope they develop in the minors after that. Anyways, to answer your question, I don't think they have anyone at OKC that I can thnk of at least. Maybe Stoffel at CC.
It seems to me that if he doesn't show anything (and I haven't seen much), why waste a roster spot any longer?
It's not like he's blocking anybody.
I think that he's been in the minors for a great while already. It seems to me that if he doesn't show anything (and I haven't seen much), why waste a roster spot any longer?
That's my question. I accept that it's entirely possible that we are so devoid of top-level talent that keeping him may make sense.
OK, but why take him in the first place if you don't think he can eventually develop? They think they see something in him or they wouldn't have picked him. Btw, I'm not a believer in the guy either, but I assume they know their job and see something.
Cruz looked good early in the year - good fast ball and a nasty slider. When he woke up and realized that he was in the big leagues, he got overwhelmed. He may be OK after a year in AAA. There is no downside to keeping him around no matter how bad he is. He certainly is no worse than Carpenter or Rodriquez.
You guys act like Carlos actually wants to play baseball. Benching him is probably exactly what the lazy fucker wants. All he cares about is his paycheck and ranch.
Dammit, my sarc-meter and asshole-meter must be set at the same volume again. Which one was that?
Seriously. It's starting to feel like the Chron comments section has invaded.
I was drinking
That is actually very funny.Wasn't singling you out; there've been a number of Chron-ish comments slung around lately- certain posters more guilty of it than others.
Especially from people whose names start with "G".
GusicMan?
Not by a very long shot, my friend!
