A few random thoughts:

The current leader will not finish in the top 20...his round was a freaking anomoly. Hits 8 greens and shoots 66? That just does not happen on golf courses like Olympic. Look for the Golf Gods to even the score...

G-Mac shoots 1 under (along with Furyk) and gets the least amount of TV time I have seen a recent champion receive (while shooting a good round). TV coverage baffles me.

Lee Westwood is one tough motherfucker. +4 after 7, finishes +3. He will most certainly be in the picture on Sunday.

World's #1 vanishes at yet another major.

Olympic Club is one helluva test of golf.

And...that Tiger guy played like a freaking machine. If he coninues to play even remotely close to the way he did Thursday everyone else is playing for second. Will be very interesting to watch, for sure...

Everybody oohs and ahhs over Pebble Beach, but I would pay serious money to play Olympic. What a gorgeous, old-fashioned track.

Yep...and this time the course actually looked fair. Rough was not terribly deep, greens receptive. Good shots were generally rewarded...that ain't always the case at the US Open. Imagine how tough that track would be if the USGA had baked it out. I am flat out shocked at Tiger's weekend regression. I think he may need to spend less time working on his golf swing and more time on the short game.

Furyk collapsed in epic fashion but was ever gracious and professional afterwards before retiring to the scorer's tent and committing ritual seppeku.

I genuinely felt bad for Furyk, Woods, not so much. He has been a prick his whole career - and gotten EVERY good break along the way, no less. Maybe the Golf Gods were just stringing him along. Also, anyone know how much jail time Limey is doing for interrupting Webb Simpson's post round interview?

I liked Costas' complete ignorance of Beau Hollser's college selection. You would think that by day four of the tournament he might have educated himself on a player that had generated quite a bit of buzz.

Despite Jim Nantz and his smugness I infinitely prefer CBS' golf coverage to the other two networks. Johnny Miller is insufferable.

Since Miller grew up on Olympic you would think that he would hsave added some valuable insight into the way the course plays, how to approach certain holes etc. Didn't really happen.

A golf shirt and Khakis are funny somehow? Save Ian Poulter, Ricky Fowler and John Daly there is not much funny (IMO) about a golf shirt and a pair of slacks. Strange Rules? I am sure you have your reasons for stating this, but coming from a person with close to 20 years of competitive golf experience I have never really thought the rules to be strange. Unfair at times, but never strange. While the game itself was not born here, the modern game was (the non-links golf that most everyone in the world now plays). I don't know why your post bothered me to the point I felt the need to reply. Maybe it is you seemingly poking fun at a "Euro sport" that is "not American" all the while posting regularly in the EURO 2012 thread.

I worked with NBC on the Player's Championship for 6 years in the early 90's and saw Costas a lot. His listed height is 5' 7" and that's generous.
