Wow. JD batting cleanup.
Lance Lynn, nursing a 1-0 lead in the fifth, gives up a leadoff triple to Rios, then strikes out the side. Damn.
People bitching and moaning about JD Martinez in the GZ. Wow, there's a new one...
I'm not bitching about JD. I merely said that he hasn't earned the cleanup spot, which is true.
The only hit allowed by RA Dickey tonight was an infield single in B1... (There was an error B9 that led to a run as well). 9.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 12 SO... And I almost sat him this week because he'd be pitching against the Rays in Tampa (and he'd had 4 very good starts in a row so I 'knew' he wouldn't have a 5th...)...
I centered my pitching staff around Halladay, Strasburg, and Carpenter. 32 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings later, and Dickey is my ace.Oh, and Lynn's not bad for me, either.
I passed up Dickey because I DIDN'T THINK THAT THE Mets would win enough games. Silly me.
Reuben, the "melk man" now kills me. That didn't help.
Clap for the Melk Man.
That's what they call him out here.
Batting practice
Snyder violates rule number one in tagging a runner. Probably won't matter in the end, but still, you're a professional.
The bullpen is going to be in tatters
Yeah, Bogey needs to get ready.
His arm will stay loose in RF tonight I'm sure
Oh come on, they're just down by a TD.
WTF, just now warming up? I don't get Mills or Happ. Ugh
Yeah I'm not opposed to letting him suffer out there for a bit given it 's already this far gone. It helps from time to time when you don't have shit, you know skip is not coming to get you, but you have to figure out how to get outs still. Manager has to know his pitcher though, obviously.
Don't forget Happ had shit last Thursday. He needs a licensed psychiatrist to figure his head out.
Having been where Happ is a few times, just the knowing that no one is coming out to spare you any further misery or embarassment can be cathartic.
These calls on Altuve are getting old. What's the point in showing discipline when those dumbasses can't see that you are five feet whatever.
At best, I'm paying half-assed attention to the game right now... but... it looks like MATT CAIN HAS A PERFECT GAME GOING ON!
I'm not. Obviously, there are guys who cant handle it, but I'm a believer that it can help a pitcher grow. Sometimes your stuff is shit, but the pitcher has to still find a way to have some grit and get outs and save the pen. Not what is ideal for a good vet who has earned a reprieve or a potential star with electric stuff, but happ is neither. He is a fringe player at this point with decent stuff, but his stuff alone isn't good enough. if he can't dig deep and learn to pitch, he won't be a long term option, so give him guidance and let him try to battle.
I'm a broken record but in my opinion, Happ's stuff isn't good enough to pitch consistently up in the zone.
Agree completely. He should only be up if it is way up in a pitcher's count, but he's proving that he's not good enough to be able to execute that level of control on a consistent basis. Oh well, I guess it's just frustrating because he's a lefty and should not be as far as he is from being a solid back of the rotation guy. And wade got him as a key piece in a trade for oswalt while still eating a lot of salary.
At what point do you try Happ as a reliever?
Thought that was gone... FML!!!
This cocksucker's strike zone is about to get as big as Oprah's ass.
Nice of you to drop by. The zone has been pretty big (at least high) all night, but you're right, now that the mercy rule should be in effect, everyone will be in a hurry to get this one over.
Who have thrown no hitters against stros in the last decade?
Still should be zone integrity given the circumstances
I don't care how many reach-arounds Bud promised you to post the words that you posted (and that I certainly won't give 'em credence by quoting 'em here)... but... there has not been a no-hitter thrown against the Astros in this millennium. REMEMBER THAT!
I've been watching the whole game, yo. Just because I don't Fredia every time the synapses connect doesn't mean I'm not here enjoying the game.
No offense intended as I was just fucking with you. But it is good to know that you are still here watching this travelling horseshit show.
Got home in time to see Blanco's catch. This is destiny.
What the hell else am I going to do?
You got fucked, Wallace. But we all knew it was going to be called a strike anyway...
That was strike four.
If was off the inside corner and should've been a ball. But mid-perfecto bid, you get blown up on that one every time.
But mid-perfecto bid, you get blown up on that one every time.
Same goes for close plays at 1B.-Everyone but Jim Joyce
I'm glad I got to see that.
skinny Michael Moore.
I didn't post trying to jinx him but alas. Congrats to Cain.
I fell asleep. During a perfect game. This is the future for us as Astros fans.
I think Ryan's fifth no-hitter, the Wood 20 K game, 1986 NLCS, and Scott's no-hitter are all more historically significant. On the other hand, I fell asleep in 2nd inning so what do I know.
I was laughing to myself about this afterwards - arguably the most historically significant game the team has ever played outside the year 2005 and there are like five of us watching and two of them live on the west coast. I hope Crane gets his TV money in advance.
You can't be serious. A perfect game is the rarest thing in the big leagues.
