I'm glad to see that Snyder is catching Happ again because I think that made a difference last time out. I hope that I'm right about that. Schreefer is in  the lineup but hitting in the eight? Hey Millsie, Maxwell AIN'T a three!!! Lowrie should be hitting third, Schreefer should either be leading off or hitting second, and Maxwell should be seven or eight. Just sayin'!

If by "close" you mean "belt high over the center of the plate", then yes it was.

Good job by Snyder.  After a 4 pitch walk to Reed then ball 1 to Castro, said something to Happ.  Happ attacks the strike zone and Ks Castros on 3 more pitches

Why the fuck is the number three hitter bunting 3-1 with runners on base?

And with two outs and a good athete fielder on the hill.

Silly question:

Runner on first, pop to RF, why wouldn't Lee be standing on first in case the runner tripped/whatever turning around coming back to first?

Wood has settled in. Happ needs to be real good tonight, which he has been so far except for that mistake in the happy zone to Suckiano.

Because he's being lazy.

Does the 1st baseman have a responsibillity to move over 10 feet from 1st in that situation?

Not off the bat. The 1bman is the cutoff man on a throw to the plate, but not with just a runner on 1b.

What a great pitching job by Lopez.  Fuck the cubs and their fans at the game.

It's a miracle: the folks in Dumbass Cove left the ball alone!

Yeah, did you see all of those damn Cub jerseys jumping up and down after Campana was safe at 3rd?

We really need this run. Come on, Maxwell.

Why didn't he take a pitch on 3-1? Maxwell should have even been in that position because he has no business hitting in the three.

He is. Made quick work of them.

Even though the cubs suck, it was still a nice, clean win.

I didn't want to curse Happ, but he looked better than I ever remember seeing him.   His four seamer and cutter were effectice, the curve had some bite even though he still has trouble throwing it for strikes, and his change was very usable.  Nice to see and kudos to him and the coaches.

EXCELLENT!!!

I agree. He was getting ahead of most of the hitters early. I think that Snyder makes a huge difference for Happ. Snyder should always catch Happ because he handles him well and takes charge of the game like a good catcher should. Castro needs to learn how to do that.

People (HH and all the others who have donned the tools of ignorance) don't realize how important a catcher is to a pitcher. A catcher can almost make or break a pitcher. It makes that much of a difference.

Huh?  I and every other catcher understand better than most.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.
