He gave up a granny to Heyward early, looked like he was more trying to work on getting his curve in shape than really bearing down. Carpenter was throwing hard, 95-96 but was getting the ball up some.

I figured as much. The hook is such a touch pitch that you're going to hit knocked around a bit when you're tuning it up.

I was able to see one AB of Harper vs. Sabathia today. CC got him on a major league bender after sneaking one by him that was down and in.
