And the AL Wild Card could come down to...

Bruce Chen.

Seriously.  Red Sox are reportedly trying to acquire him for Game 163 tomorrow.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

They've got Lester going today, right? After his recent performances, I'm not sure they'll have to worry about a game 163.
I remember all the good times me 'n Miller enjoyed
Up and down the M1 in some luminous yo-yo toy
But the future has to change - and to change I've got to destroy
Oh look out Lennon here I come - land ahoy-hoy-hoy

Couldn't the Rays block the deal with a waiver claim?

Too bad Wandy can't cut it in the AL East.

Presumably he's already cleared waivers.

I have been bothering my Sox fan buddies about this.  How could Wandy and/or Myers not be significant improvements for the rotation?  The Red Sox spent ungodly sums of money this offseason and then decide to promote fiscal austerity at the deadline and hope they can mash the shit out of opponents in the playoffs?

I, for one, cannot wait for a Phillies (or better yet D'Backs) vs. Tigers (or better yet Rays) World Series because a) fuck Bud Selig and b) fuck the MLB right in its fascist ass.

Wandy can't be traded.

...now.

Right, but back in August, when they would have had to make the deal, the Sox had a 9-game lead for the playoffs, and the best record in the AL.  This probably wasn't on their radar.

Had Epstein called Ed Wade back in July and offered up a decent return, I'm sure Wandy would be preparing for his start in Game 3 of the ALDS right now.

Didn't they trade for Erik Bedard instead?

Yeah, and one guess what happened to him.

Hoisted on their own Bedard?

Injured? And when he wasn't injured he sucked?  Surprise, surprise.
