Game should resume within the hour
« on: September 18, 2011, 04:10:56 pm »
Didn't see GZ open for the game. Dry slot is rotating in shortly so the game should start up again within the hour if the Wrigley crew did not botch it and leave the tarps off too long.
Another trenchant comment by a jealous lesser intellect.

And for those that haven't been following, up 3-2 Myers gave a two run homerun in the bottom of the 8th, but the umpires reversed it, called it a double, and did not award the runner that was on base home plate.  Melancon threw one pitch, and the tarp came back out.

The umps reversed a call and it went against the Cubs? Did the place explode?

The myth of the Cubs fan has led you to believe there are any fans there.  Considering there was a Bears game going on, I'd guesstimate fewer than 10k...hard to explode with that size crowd.

McTaggart counted 59 people in the bleachers for the 9th.

By the way, the umps clearly got the call right. Even the Cubs TV guys said it as soon as they saw the replay. Good job by JD getting it back in without missing a beat, and thanks to some non-hustle by Starlin Castro, the runner at 1st, the umps only awarded him 3rd on the play (the ball was in the air/bouncing long enough that anybody with decent speed should have been able to score from 1st- there were two outs after all- but Castro was just reaching 3rd as the cutoff took the throw).

I only saw a few innings, but great game, and Fuck the Cubs too.
