09/16/11: Astros at FTC
« on: September 16, 2011, 01:47:55 pm »
Darwin Barney hit into a weird DP to end B1.  Carlos lead off T2 with a HR to left field (his 22nd at Wrigley).  Astros lead 1-0.
In the end, my dissolution with the game of baseball will not be a result of any loss of love for the game, rather from the realization that I can no longer bear the anger its supposed stewards cause to be built up in my soul. -Lee (01/08/2013)

Everyone's talking, few of them know
The rest are pretending, they put on a show
And if there's a message I guess this is it

Soto returns the favour.

1-1 in the 4th.

Looks like it didn't cost him. Gameday is showing pitches on the corners as called balls fairly consistently.

If it's consistent, then Wandy needs to adjust.

FTCs generate some traffic and plate 2 runs.  Wandy lifted for Willy, who Ks Soto to end it, stranding 2.

3-1 FTCs after 6.

Assuming Gameday is reliable. I can't see the game, so I have no idea.

Cy Garza continuing to mow 'em down.  Still 3-1 Cubs in the middle of the 8th.

KABONG with his first multi-HR game of the year ties it at 3-3 in T9.

Why did Shuck bat for Altuve?  L/R percentages?

Probably related to Altuve being 4-37 over the last 10 games...

Astros dodge a bullet in the 9th, using 3 pitchers.  (Nice) Marmol mows 'em down in the 10th.  Bottom of the frame coming up.

F-Rod(o) Ks two in the bottom of the 10th.  Astros 'n' FTCs knotted at 3  7  0.

Great job!  Frodo dodges a 1-out double and a walk by striking out the next two FTCs!  In the process, Marmol is lifted for a PHer (the 2nd K victim).

Shitfuck!  Lee leads off with a single, and Bourgeois - pinchrunning - steals 2nd with 0 out.  Flyout, foulout, popout follow.

Middle of the 12th, still 3-3.

Double shitfuck!  Carpenter on the mound, walks the lead-off guy who is then bunted to 2nd.  So they intentionally walk Errormiss to set up the double play - only to have both runners move up on a wild pitch.  So they IBB the next guy, and then Carp gives up the game-winning single.

Fuck...The...Cubs!

A single that went 40 feet, apparently. Wtf??
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Swinging bunt?  Doesn't make sense as I'm presuming that everyone was in close to nail the runner at the plate.

I've seen it now.  Swinging bunt down the 3B line; CJ went to glove it, but got lucky as it bounced juuuust foul before it hit his glove and ricocheted back fair.  Ump ruled it fair.

Of course, the FTCs greeted Marlon Byrd like he'd just won Game #7; Millsie protested but to no avail.

The Ump blew the call, but if CJ leaves the ball the fuck alone it rolls harmlessly foul and the Astros get another pitch.
