Not me. I saw his cannon at Tulane firsthand.

Looks like the rain has let up, but it still looks like a pretty miserable night to be at the ballpark.

I'm beginning to think that Paredes has the highest upside of any of the new generation of players the Astros have.

I'm not sure I understand Schafer's approach at the plate with two on and two out.

Paredes is a player with a very high ceiling in my opinion. He needs to work on the mental aspects of the game, but that should come in time.

Millsie fucked up by bringing in WW. The easy call was to leave Myers out there. After his error, he would have bore down on the next hitter.

Wellsir, the Piroots did us a huge favor by swinging at a 2-0 pitch after six consecutive balls. Conventional wisdom says you take a pitch there.

Hopefully Myers has a couple more strong outings before the year is up and they can move him in the offseason.

Someone is going to give that fucker too long of a contract. I'd give him top money for three or four years tops. Otherwise, I'd take a pass and sign someone else.

I'd be fine with any combo of Wandy, Bud, Lyles, Happ, and another youngster.  They aren't going to contend next year nor extend him the season after next.  I'd rather the Astros get more youngsters then keep Myers around.

But he's going to insist on something like 8 years, because he knows that somebody will pay it.

That's insane. Unless the fucker stays in awesome shape like Julio Franco, and he doesn't look like that, he'll likely be horseshit by the time that he's 35 if he's not that already.

Yeah, somebody's going to get fucked on that contract. He's 31 right now (wink, wink). It's hard to say if this year's performance is the result of injury or the start of a decline, but I have a sneaking suspicion that his decline will be rapid. Anything over four years is going to expose the winning bidder to a lot of risk.

Altuve has a lot to prove before we start comparing him to Alou, who was a fastball hitting machine. There is a difference between being a badball hitter and expanding your strikezone. Altuve is doing the latter.

He does look awfully promising at the plate. Much better than I expected. No dog with the glove either

The best thing is that he's still raw. I like his glove. He's much better than CJ, and he's younger.

Mills still thinks we need a play by play rundown in the post game presser.  Maybe we can recruit him for recaps next season.

He was considered a great athlete with piss poor plate discipline.  It looks like his glove is better than some scouts indicated.  Bastards.

He appears to have much better plate discipline than Altuve.

Maybe.  But the results so far fairly well mirror their work in the minors.  Altuve hitting around .300 while striking out at a 13% of at-bats rate.  Paredes hitting around .280 while striking out a way too high 30% of at-bats rate.  Neither appear happy to take a walk.

As I can see it, Altuve is a top of the order hitter in the big leagues, so his OBP will be important. Unless he develops some power, Altuve better start walking and having some plate discipline. Paredes, on the other hand, has some power and will hit toward the middle of the order, so walking won't be as important as long as he drives in runs. Strike outs will be forgiven too if he drives in runs.
