Why is anyone watching this when the lingerie league kickoff is on?

Dangit JA (pronounced 'Jay'), intentional walk to get to the pitcher and then walk 'em to load the bases?!?! You're killin' me man...

Well, at least I got the feat (unassisted triple play) for the trivia question. I had no idea that Furcal or Tulowitzki had done, however.

I've said it before, but I'll say it again. Happ's stuff isn't good enough to pitch up in the zone consistently. He needs to work on his hammer and pitch down in the zone.

I'm with Happy on this, though: Happ seems to think he can work up in the zone, and his shit just isn't that good. If he isn't down, he's going to get drilled. And, really, if he isn't down and on the corners, he's going to get drilled.

I think he's rushing ever so slightly every time he's up in the zone.  So, I don't think all of that is necessarily on purpose.

J: he pitches up in the zone on purpose. I've seen him interviewed. He came up as a flyball and strikeout pitcher. His stuff is good enough to do that all the way up to AAA. However, it isn't good enough to do it consistently in the big leagues in my opinion. Additionally, he throws way too many pitches, and his fastballs have almost no run on them. If I was him, I'd work on a cutter and work hard on my hook. Take a page from Wandy.

I'm with you on this. I agree with Hap and austro, too, but I think that his mechanics are fucked up and that leads to poor control. I happen to think he does have the pitches to be successful but lacks the command.

I'd have to see film of him in Philly versus what we're seeing now to know whether or not mechanics are an issue. Film doesn't lie.

You're right. The strike zone has started to move. Bellino is known as an inconsistent, low strike caller, but he's tough around the edges. He calls strikes between the catcher's knees.

PacBell (or whatever it is now) looks like a fun place to see a game.

It is. Fantastic.

And the migrating strike zone strikes again. El Caballo called out looking for the 3rd out of the 8th.

Fucking cocksucker. What a fucking amateur. Find some fucking umpires who aren't incompetent fucksticks. They're making the game unwatchable.

Wow. I tuned in to this game JUST in time to see one of the most horrific fucking ridiculous "strike" calls since the heyday of the sniveling fuckin Atlanta Braves. Carlos was right to drop his bat and show disrespect for that call. Atrocious. Ball was a foot outside.

That's just the latest in an entire night full of fun-house mirror calls. It's been quite the adventure.

What you don't know is that this fucking dickhead has had a zone tighter than a gnat's ass up until this last half inning.

His rep is that he usually calls them between the knees. You can miss your spot and throw it over the plate and he won't call it. He must have an early dinner date now. The call against Lee was horrible.

Huh, I was thinking that perhaps having to call a JA Happ start had just completely destroyed his ability to distinguish what a true strike is.
